I was thinking about this this morning while making my coffee. I just have a fairly standard coffee pot with no bells or whistles. But it is a gadget, in the sense that they didn't exist as we know them, say 100 years ago. So, what is a gadget (let's say anything electronic, whether that is an electric razor, a coffee pot, a smart phone, or an Xbox!) that you use daily now and can't imagine living without? For me, absolutely the coffee pot, along with hair dryer, and, sadly to say, cell phone.
Oh yes, absolutely - nice to have ice cream in the summer!!! And it's not freeze dried. Mmmmm. I remember when we used to get Popsicle from the corner store. I don't' know how much they were, but so cheap. I want to say they were a penny, but maybe it was 5 cents?
Guess this is considered a 'gadget', my multi-meter. Sometimes you just have to run the equipment with the power on, ( 220-480 volts ) and knowing which wires carry the 'juice' can be a life saver. Probably when I fully retire, I'll retire my Fluke also. Other than that, my Keurig comes to mind.
I think the microwave. I use it probably almost every day for something. It certainly has made life much more convenient. I have a huge one that needs to be mounted above my oven, and is a replacement that has been decorating my living room, trying to get the money to install it...It wasn't my idea to order it...if ya know what I'm saying...mmm probably not. Anyway, I have a fairly large countertop one that I use almost every day
My apple Mac My Camera... My Microwave which I use to reheat coffee all the time... My Iphone... My remote control for my TV...... MY large HD TV,.... which does everything but make the dinner....... My remote control for my table lamps ...I have a lot of lighting in my livingroom and the remote control saves me from having to go around every one individually turning them on... I know that's more than one...but I'm a greedy Bint... ...there's plenty more things I wouldn't like to be without too...
There are no electronics that I truly could not do without but I'd have a hard time of it without my computer. At the same time, whenever I am able to get away from electronics I love it. I don't think most of us can truly appreciate the amount of noise pollution we deal with every moment of our lives. But when I get out to my camp, especially at a time of the year when there are no snowmobiles or ATVs going by, it is simply amazing to have only the sounds of nature.
I don't really need anything electronic I have. In the lunch/assembly room in my building are 2 computers and a big screen TV for our use. The one thing I dearly miss when I forget it is a pocket knife.
@Tim Burr Wondering if you, like me, "grew up" with a Simpson VOM? Sears bought me a nice new 260-5 (?) not sure of that series number, had a fuse AND pop-out circuit breaker. Not real rugged, but trustworthy. I finally wound up with four of them, one trashed after trying to remove the movement to replace another with cracked jewel. Real mind-bender to get the detent balls to stay in place on the wafer switches.
