Yes @Tim Burr , as you say Yorkshire pudding, and scones are definitely a staple of the UK. (not served up on the same plate obviously)..i don't know anyone who dislikes either one of those..:D...although errrrk...I would never have lemon curd on a scone. Always either butter alone, or cream and Jam :D

Yes, not the norm. I like the Lemon Curd on a lot of things most would shy away from.
Example, my wife puts syrup on her cornbread. To me, that is beyond weird...!

I should eat fish, but I think it is going to be hot dogs again. I have some potato salad that I really must use up. I made shrimp and grits a couple of days ago..it is honestly more like soup. It just didn't look like the picture! However, I have to say, the taste is delicious. I think that is going to on tap for tommorrow. Even though it comes in a bag not very cheap and probably isn;t super healthy I am dying to try the PF Chang's Chinese pre made Chinese dinner. I love that restaurant! However, major shopping is going to have to wait until later in the month.

What is lemon curd , @Tim Burr ? The only curd that I have heard of is cottage cheese; so is it something similar to that, only with lemon in it ? My mind is going bonkers trying to imagine this in my head. (Why am I NOT looking it up online ? ? )
We used to have scones at the Puyallup Fair, and they were served fresh and hot with butter and raspberry jam. It was a once a year treat, and I looked forward to it every year when we lived out West.
Anyway, syrup on cornbread.......YES ! ! It is delicious. Similar to having butter and honey on cornbread, which is also delicious.
When we have a pot of beans in cold weather, and make cornbread, we generally put the beans over top of the cornbread; but I often also have a small slice of it, warm, buttered, and with syrup or sorghum on it.
Another southern custom that makes no sense to me, although it is actually somewhat similar, maybe, is putting sugar and chunks of bread on stewed tomatoes. None of that sounds good to me ! I love cooked tomatoes, but to me they do not need soggy bread, and then dowsed with sugar on top of all of it.

Yvonne, Lemon Curd is a spread that goes on bread or toast like marmalade or jam...or goes into the middle of a sponge cake.

It's just a thick very sweet lemon paste that comes in a jar

No, no, no. My wife's daughter and family from California put honey on cornbread, Yuk. Some people even make cornbread with sugar in it. They just don't know nuthin bout cornbread. If you want sometin sweet bake a cake. You transplanted northerners and westerners got a lot to learn about food. I'm here to help.

To think about it, there could be a symbology issue in the mix.
I once knew someone who didn't believe in the hereafter and his cornbread was always plain or with a little butter. Now, we Southern Baptists like a little sweet sometimes on or in our cornbread to have a little heaven on earth. Of course, there are those Southern Christians who throw some JalapeƱo in the mix to remind them to behave themselves lest they should wind up somewhere a bit warmer. :)

Cornbread was meant to be plain. It is its natural state as Mother Nature intended. If you want something sweet, I'll be happy to share some recipes for cakes, candy, and pies.

Lemon curd is also delicious in crepes, which is what I use it for most of the time. I haven't had it in a while, but I'm really craving crepes, so hopefully I'll pick some up soon and make up a special treat.

I have hot dogs in the fridge, so I guess that's what I'll have for supper. I cleaned out the fridge earlier, and there isn't much in there besides that. Last night I had tamales from a can, chicken, which I'd never tried before. I love the fresh ones, but the canned tamales are a lot cheaper, and were in the budget ;).

I ended up having the shrimp and grits...soup because that is how it turned out. I did something wrong obviously, but the flavor is really delicious so I really don't care. I also made some nice avocado butter to put on my pan bread. It was a pretty decent meal. I have a whole chicken, but it's frozen so not sure when I will get around to making that. It is the refrigerator now. I will be busy in the city tommorrow, and getting my new dryer on Tuesday. Maybe if they are here early enough I could make it then.

I took some homemade tv dinners from the freezer. I don't remember what was in them.

I took advantage of the cool day today and roasted the chicken that had been hanging around in my fridge. I was considering taking a pic of it, it was so pretty, and had some delicious stuffing to boot. I had a lemon put in the hole of chicken to hold the stuffing in place. I am glad I took the time to prepare something good for supper for a change. Now that the weather is cooking off a bit, I need to take advantage of my crockpot more. There are so many good things you can make, but this oven roasted chicken was delish too!

I made Chimichangas tonight, with sweet corn and a green salad. It's a favorite of mine at lunch time. That and unsweetened black ice tea with orange slices. :)

That sounds good Marilyn. Did you make them from scratch or were they store bought? I sometimes have quesadillas for supper but I have never had chimis for supper I don't think. I love Mexican food in general. One thing I really want to make, but haven't done it yet is fish tacos. I totally love them at Baja Fresh, and they are not all that difficult to make. You need to make sure that you have cabbage though, and I don't always have it.
