As further proof that they're scared, Carl Bernstein is suggesting -- and CNN has tweeted -- that Gary Johnson's VP candidate, Bill Weld, is considering dropping out and endorsing Hillary. I don't know if you've been following the Libertarian Party campaign, but their presidential candidate, Gary Johnson, is more of a neoconservative Republican than a libertarian, and his running mate is a liberal Democrat. Both have praised Hillary during the campaign, and have focused on attacking Trump rather than running a serious campaign. Jeb Bush and some of the neocons from National Review have endorsed Johnson because they couldn't openly support Hillary and still take control of the Republican Party again after the election.

I think the idea was that the Libertarian Party would draw votes from Trump, helping Hillary's chances in November, but recent polls are showing that they are drawing far more votes from Hillary than from Trump. So, if these rumors are true, it would appear that they are abandoning their strategy of running this bogus third-party campaign against Trump. Still, Johnson will be on the ballot in all fifty states, so things seem to be unfolding.

What a strange election this is.

 

Well, that looks good in theory; however, I am afraid that what this means is that the Democrats will now drop Hillary with some sort of announcement that her health concerns are worse than before believed, and they will replace her with someone else, possibly Michelle Obama.

Here's a perspective from a former speechwriter for Robert F. Kennedy, who is voting for Trump this year.

 

We went to the Common Ground Fair yesterday, which is put on by the Maine Organic Farmers & Growers Association. It's an interesting fair that I have discussed here before, but most of the people who go or have tents or tables there are far left of center. There are two "social action" tents filled with people from from the abortion lobbies, legalizing marijuana, banning guns, atheists, and several anti-Christian tables. Jill Stein's campaign had a table there but neither Hillary or Trump did. In fact, I don't know whether they don't allow Republican tables or whether no Republicans have ever considered participating.

There were several Bernie bumper stickers on cars in the parking lot, but there were also some Trump stickers, and more Trump stickers than Hillary ones. Anyhow, I came across an acquaintance whom I hadn't seen since he left Millinocket a few years ago. He is the pastor of a very liberal Congregational church, so liberal that both he and the other pastor of the church were featured in the newspaper wearing rainbow-colored vestments during the gay marriage campaign a few years ago. He was wearing a "Yes on 3" button, question three being a ballot item coming up in November to legalize marijuana in Maine, and he was also wearing a Trump-Pence button. He had been a fervent Bernie supporter. He is voting for Trump because he believes that Trump is more likely to get us out of the Mideast wars, and because of his position on mandatory vaccines, but mostly because he hates Hillary more than he hates Trump.

 

No, he's not against vaccines, but he is against mandatory vaccines. Surely you're not against choice?
