Thanks @Diane Lane for the heads up. I went right on over there and pick up Rosemary's Grave. It will be on my iPad until I get through this Steampunk trilogy. I love free books. That's how I ended up with this trilogy.

I am still reading Malevolent, a free Kindle book. It is really interesting. A woman seems to be stalked by the spirit of her abusive dead husband, but I have an idea it is his twin brother no one ever knew about or something. I like the book though since it seems suspenseful. I think it is part of a triology, they are going it part of the Shaye Archer series, since she is the detective involved. I love to read, but my schedule doesn't reallly allow me to do too much. I could read instead of TV, but I guess I prefer the boob tube!:)

You're welcome @Ina I. Wonder. I hear about them through Bookbub. I get an email from them every day, and usually it contains one or two freebies, as well as some others that are marked down. Sometimes when you click over to Amazon to look at/get them, if you scroll down a bit on the page, it'll show others that are related or on a similar subject that are also free or low cost.

I'm reading the first of three books I got for free the other day. It's this set. It was free when I got it, but it's now listed at $7.99:
CSI Reilly Steel Box Set #1: Books 1 - 3 Kindle Edition

I finally finished Malevolent by jana DeLeon. It was quite good. I did figure out the plot about midway through, but there was an unexpected plot twist at the end, that surprised me. A nice perk was that if you signed up for the author Jana DeLeon's newsletter, you had a chance to win a 100 dollar egift card. Apparently, she is a prolific author. I had never heard of her, before I read the book.

I guess the next book I will read is The Soulkeepesr. It is another of the free kindle books. I try to pick the books that in the mystery/horror/suspense genre and are rated close to 5 stars. I like biographies too, maybe the next time I read something, I will look for something like that. I have loved nearly every biography I ever read. For those of you who like biographies, Woody Guthrie's Bio is really interesting.

I'm now on book 3 of the ones I posted above, the 3-book set of CSI Reilly Steel mysteries. I've been clicking over and collecting my freebies from Amazon via Bookbub though, so I'll have plenty to choose from when I'm finished with this one.

Debbie Seattle, I would be very interested in your opinion of Hillbilly Elegy if you don't mind sharing your thoughts.

@Diane Lane I looked on my Kindle Store app, and I was able to pick up that set of CSI Reilly Steel books for free. So I guess I got lucky. I'll be starting it after I finish what I'm currently reading, which is Hostile Witness by Rebecca Foster. :)

I like to read, but I wish I had more time to do it. I had some time today, as I was waiting for a focus group to start, but this place had no wifi for participants, that is a first. Figures! It didn't stop everyone from palying with their phones anyway. Of course my books are on kindle so I need a wifi to read so it is just kind of a problem if I don't have an available connection.

"Dark Sun", by Richard Rhodes. Pulitzer Prize winner for "The Making of the Atomic Bomb".

This one is the making of the Hydrogen Bomb. As usual, Rhodes researches more deeply than imaginable, creating quotes of things said by important characters, even though they must be fabricated based on known material.

My nephew Mike sent it to me. He lives in Flagstaff (AZ), is a zealot scholar with two MS degrees, retired last September. He and I have turned out to be the closest two surviving members of the immediate family. His last visit here in July, I prompted him to plunge into our little swim pool. He seemed reluctant, even after we had thoroughly discussed the fact that he, his brother, and I, had been required, in high school, to swim naked in Phys. Ed. That fact being another issue, but relevant, my wife suddenly approached me in the kitchen, stating she had just stepped out the back door, (AND back inside!), after seeing Mike languishing in the pool, nude!

Sorry for going so far off course! I couldn't resist! Poor Mike! How we love him. Amongst our immediate family members, love is mostly absent. My 3 nieces (Mike's sisters), have not communicated with me in 20+ years.

I have read Rhodes book "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" and enjoyed it.
Was holding off a bit on "Dark Sun", as it is more political in nature.
It is still on my list of books to read due the author's style.
"The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer" was well worth the read.

You should be able to download a book or two to your device via the Kindle app, so you'll have it with you whether or not you have a wifi connection. I believe I've done that in the past, although it's been a while.

@Ina I. Wonder I hope you like them. I'd probably give them about a 4/5, they're interesting reads, and I'm enjoying hearing about Ireland, since my family is from there, and I'd like to visit someday. I'm also enjoying the psychological aspect of the stories, since she often describes things in behavioral terms.
