Trump

I have a few photos but they're sort of like any other rally. I'll post some later maybe, as I need to resize them for the forum. Jeff Sessions and Rudy Giuliani spoke before Trump came out, and he was good. A lot of excitement. He spoke to some local issues that are important particularly to Maine's 2nd District, such as undoing a National Monument designation that Obama just did, and we don't want. It's hard to judge the size of the crowd, as the floor was packed with people standing. There were a lot of empty seats in the back of the arena, and one entire section in the front wasn't opened for seating, probably for security purposes. I would guess that by the time Trump came on, the seats were maybe about three-quarters full, possibly a little less than that. The arena holds 8,500 people, but Bangor only has a population of 30,000. Of course, like us, people came from outside of Bangor.

 

There seemed to be a fairly even mix of older people, younger people, men and women. There were certainly more younger people there than the media would have you believe, and they will probably report that he spoke to a mostly white audience, ignoring the fact that Maine is a mostly white state.

 

None of the seats were such that anyone could get very close to him other than the few who were placed directly behind him, who are the ones that would appear in any photos of the event you see. The one section that was closed was in the front and on the side nearest where he was standing, and I think that was closed off for security reasons. I could see him pretty clearly from my seat but photos didn't come out well because the podium area was lighted whereas the rest of the arena was darkened.

 

By the way, there were only two anti-Trump protestors. Both women. They were on the sidewalk looking crazy, holding hand-scrawled signs.

 

I think that was underestimated, but I would expect that from the Portland Herald. Maine has no conservative media, but the Portland Herald is the most liberal.

 

There may have been only two protestors with signs, but others were busy apparently. According to the news, multiple vehicles were vandalized with spray paint outside the rally. So far, the number is about fifty. Many people may have simply driven off without noticing the paint on their cars, however. We haven't looked yet because it's dark. We were parked in the same area where the vandalism was done. I guarantee you that if this had occurred outside a Hillary Clinton rally, Trump would be blamed. Does anyone want to bet that neither Hillary, her campaign, or the Democrat Party will be blamed for this?
