That little flower is called a "Purple Queen", at least that is what it is called down here in Alabama. We have them outside, and they are one of my most favorite plants. When they are outside, they will spread; but mine has died for the winter, so we won't have any until they come back out next spring. It is actually a type of Wandering Jew, which is usually grown as a houseplant. Here is what it looks like when it is outside and spreads.
Woahhhhhhhhhh, we are getting 27 mph winds now. I don't think I'd try walking my dog about now: Seeyal'later!! Up up and away!!
I named that file wandering jew because I thought that's what it was! Purple Queen suits it well, and it looks gorgeous outside!! Mine is spreading all along my window-sill and since I don't have an outdoor garden, I'm glad they grow indoors too! Love it! Everything grows so gorgeous in Alabama, and everywhere you go smells like a flower garden. I do miss it there, maybe someday I'll take a trek back there

Yep, it's that cold here. -13 factoring in the wind chill. But, we's Iowans. All we gotta do is wait a few hours and it'll all change, for better or worse. Anyone here remember wearing snow pants as a child? You struggle for a half hour getting into them, then have to pee. I only remember wearing them one time, to school. I was late for class, sitting on the floor in the hall trying to get out of them. I came home from school carrying them and never wore 'em again. My mom was always asking me, "don't your legs get cold"? "I'm cold all over mom, kin I stay home"? "NO"! My mom got me some old fashioned long underwear. I hate tight clothes. These felt like an octopus was hugging me. Not only that, but I still swear they were made out of briars, to add to the misery. I came home from school carrying those, too. Then there was the pull over sweater stage. Mom got me a couple that, not only itched like wearing a burlap bag full of fleas, but were big, bulky and brightly colored. Exactly like the ones a couple of the girls in my class were wearing. Mom must have gotten tired of me coming home from school carrying most of my clothes, because as I walked in the door I heard her say, "fine. Freeze your butt off then, if that's what you want". Breakfast time was a tussle too. I came down, still half asleep. There was cold cereal, and a big glass of cold milk. That didn't warm a kid up much, who was facing a long, cold walk to school. Mom finally went into her hot chocolate mode. Better, but I needed a kick start. My dad came to my rescue. "Dammit, he wants coffee. Give him coffee and toast like he keeps askin for". Thanks dad. Things finally got sorted out at my house, just in time for spring.
Good Morning All Local new station informed me that Dolly Parton's Telethon raised over 9 million dollars for victims of the Smoky Mountain wildfires. Money starts to go out today. I tip my hat to all who contributed. Enjoy Your Day...
