Today, women are being urged to take the day off from all work (including domestic) and spending.
Yes, on a day which acknowledges women (national woman's day) a group of organizers wish all the ladies to stay home from work, knock off the dusting at home, leave the babies and go march in protest for all of the inequality that women in the United States face at the hands of men.

There are a couple of things which concern me about the strike that make for some interesting thinking points.
It seems that along with the strike, the organizers are asking women to stop spending money on their day off unless the business is owned by a woman. Now, from my point of view, if one were to do the psychological math, we find that (a) woman with a day off + (b) not shop = (c) massive women taking prozac in order to control shoppers detox.

A second point of the protest would be that a couple of the organizers are convicted terrorists. I cannot say a whole lot about this point except that I would wonder why women would follow another woman who is proven to be somewhat mentally deranged ? A small link is provided for your reading pleasure.
Terrorists Organizing Women's Day Off (it's not clickable so try to google it)

I do have a couple of positive thoughts about it in case anyone believes me to be a bit biased.
If equality is the issue, then it would be equal for men to do the same on some future date. Say, the opening day for a fishing event or deer season or even a local baseball event.

Lastly, a positive note which involves the Obama administration. I think I will gender identify myself as a woman today and take the day off.

Several schools in at least four states were closed Wednesday so teachers can participate in "A Day Without a Woman" strike in which organizers are urging female workers to stay home.

organizers: The strike was created by the organizers of the historic Women’s March on Washington in January, if I remember this one was led by a Muslim with terrorists ties. same here today??

I personally wouldn't take this day off if I was still working especially to prove a point that would cost me a day's pay or a vacation day and less money to spend an probably when it would be needed most.

(for some reason my edit for the word 'and' isn't working)

Men already have dedicated days off. They are called Saturday and Sunday. :p Most men get them off work, whereas most women that have jobs do the heavy housework on those days. :( Plus most fellas have what now days is called a Man Cave. Generally it's a garage, or a shop out back.

So to heck with a day off, we want a fancy Woman Cave!!! :D And don't tell us that's the house.

On the flip side, while yes, Saturday and Sunday are sometimes referred to as days off, it is just 2 days off from regular paying employment. On those two days however, a smart wife generally has a very long list of "honey do"s" in which a man must do in order to sleep in the same bed with his beloved or at the very least, avoid a hot tongue and a cold shoulder. Let us not forget that the lawn must be mowed, wood chopped. snow shoveled and leaves raked during whatever season it is deemed appropriate which never interrupts the wife's long list.
So far as the "man cave" I do remember instances when the ladies had a thing called the sewing room complete with a day bed. The proper gentleman of course, had the library and study in which the man of the house sat and worried over the house accounts and had an occasional pipe and sherry.
My wife and I have neither sewing room nor library but a mutual gym in a converted bedroom and two recliners in the living room whereby each of us has an Ipad and earphones. ;)

I do acknowledge though that men do definitely have a full day off from his regular weekly job and weekend chores. It's called...........mother's day. :)

@Gary Ridenour they have a new name for hubby's that get to retire before the wife, or those that find out that the wife can earn more, so they trade places. They are called househusbands. Hopefully now we can quit calling you poor fellas dogs. :D

My wife would take the day off but then she would be forced to realize that I do all the work anyhow.

Actually, I think a "Man Cave" is for mancho men. I would never think of having one. On the tv show, Property Brothers, we are always hearing a young married, or engaged, man asking for this kind of room. Ridiculous! But, then again, the Sewing Room was basically for women, with a sign on the door saying "Men Stay Out" (only kidding).
And, since I'm the one retired, I take care of most of the housework during the week. So, that means "playing" on the weekends (if the weather is ok).

@Bobby Cole most sewing rooms are a thing of the past, mainly because it's cheaper to buy than make most clothing. :(

Now I admit, when I visited you and @Yvonne Smith, I saw that the two of you were pretty much on equal bases. :p

Although, you do have the customary garage/shop out back where you can disappear as needed. I saw it myself, but I didn't enter, because it was YOUR man cave, and men need their own space too. :D
