Thank you @Lara Moss ! Robin is actually retired military; but she worked in Helicopters when she was in the Army (Cav), and she now works for a contractor that is involved with the military.
They send her overseas every so often; but never for so long as this time. She has been in Dubai several times (which she loves !), the Czech Republic, and several other places in that vicinity. She was in Afghanistan before, too; but she was usually gone only a week or two at the most.
This time, she had to stay inside of a safe compound near to the NATO base there, which is close to where some of the terrorist attacks have been happening.
Mostly, she works from home, and only has to go into the office when there is an important meeting, so even when she was in Afghanistan, she could still do most of what she does here at home, plus whatever she was doing over there.

Yvonne, sounds like Robin leads a most fascinating life…and one a mom would be so so proud of. I'm so glad she's home and safe now with you.

@Diane Lane , thank you for creating this thread and your post 194 was a delight to read. Coincidently, last night, I was swimming in my lane and the girl in the next lane was swimming in my direction. She was waving at me with a big toothy grin and swimming at the same time. I wasn't sure if she was waving at someone behind me so I just smiled. I can't wave and swim simultaneously anyhow, and I was confused at how exuberantly happy she was lol. As she reached me, grinning from ear to ear, she said, "I'm just so happy that the water temperature is warm!". I nodded yes and smiled.

Later (by this time it was 9:45pm and I thought I was all alone as they close at 10pm). I was drying my hair in the locker room and she walks by quickly with a big smile and says HI!! Have a nice evening and waves goodbye as if we've been best friends forever. It made me giggle and smile and made me feel happy. I thought about it, and still am apparently…I can easily do that. I can make an effort to be genuinely friendly to strangers.

As I was leaving the receptionist said to me "Are you going to walk with us tomorrow? Remember we talked about it?" It had been awhile and I was surprised she even remembered me. That YMCA is the happiest place on earth. I've been to about 5 YMCAs but none are as cheerful as this place. Fresh flowers on all the tables in the lobby. Extra amenities in the locker rooms, Warm towels. It's crazy good.

Good morning. Made it through another night, and all my parts are working so, Thank you God.
It's 55 degrees here in beautiful downtown shoreline city. Supposed to make it to 70 under partly cloudy skies. Woke up sweating this morning and I don't have the heat on. I hate it when that happens. I'm praying for snow and cold weather soon. My Slavic blood laughs at snow and cold.
Made some headway getting my cleaning done. Takes me longer than it did when I could stand and walk without a walker. I hate the paper work worse than the cleaning. If I don't know an answer and leave too many blank spaces on the forms, the manager gets irritated. If I make too many mistakes and the manager has to correct them, she gets irritated. If I leave everything blank for her to fill out, she gets irritated, says she isn't our babysitter. Some days, I just want to punch everyone in the head.
    Have a good 'un, y'all.

Good morning and, yes, thank you God for another day. Ike, "the sweats" concerns me. I'm going to send you a conversation invite unless you want me to "talk" here. It might be helpful to others but then this is a "good" morning thread :)

Feel free to talk about it here. I've been waking up wet with sweat off and on a long time. Never thought too much about it.

My husband had that same thing…woke up wet with sweat. It's a sign to be aware. He was 46 when he had his fatal heart attack. Do you have your own blood pressure machine? Do you use it 3 times a day and write it down so you can see how you're doing?

Whenever I think I'm too stressed (stress is the number one killer and your manager is no help), I will watch my blood pressure closely, cut out salt (there's a lot of natural salt in meat and eggs etc…canned food and frozen dinners have way too much salt unless the can says "low salt"…look for that), drink lots of water, eat a nutritarian all natural soup or at least eat fresh greens, unprocessed meats/fish, take my Bs and D3 vitamins, cut out white sugar (everything white should be in moderation), and exercise.

I know it's hard for you to stand. You can do exercises while sitting (google it). I sometimes stand while I'm on the computer because sitting is a killer. I get up and take breaks often. I wish you lived near a YMCA, maybe you do, and do an AquaFit class. Swimming everyday is what keeps me alive and well right now. If I miss 3 days I start to feel problems. The pool makes you free…you can move and stretch easily in the pool. Google natural stress relievers like breathing exercises and meditation.

I shouldn't have just zeroed in on only the heart as a cause for night sweats. There are many other cause of night sweats. Here's a list from the May Clinic. It includes meds as a cause as well many conditions like sleep apnea, and nerve damage. Most of the conditions can lead to heart problems though. Here's the link from the Mayo Clinic:

Good morning...I hope. I noticed my wife has the canner sitting on the stove so I guess I'll be peeling potatoes soon. After the Irish potatoes are done I'll be digging the sweet potatoes. I hope we don't get many. We have a pantry full of canned ones and a freezer full too. I didn't plan on growing sweet potatoes this year but after digging the Irish potatoes we had an empty bed and some of last years crop was sprouting so I planted some.

Good morning Sheldon. Sounds wonderful…well not the peeling part, but the effort is worthwhile. What is you favorite way of serving potatoes?

My favorite way of serving potatoes? That's a tough question. I like an equal amount of potatoes and onions fried together. Baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, French fries, boiled potatoes with parsley or dill and potato salad.

    Thank you for the video.

See, it makes such a difference, and we don't always realize how important it is. Sometimes we just wave out of habit, or say hello, hi, good morning, etc., and it could make all the difference to the other person. That does sound like a nice place, and it's probably where I'd be working out if I lived there (and if I could work out) ;).

That has to be so stressful. Thankfully, she's home now, and hopefully won't be in harm's way again. At least with her arrival, a little of your stress is now gone :).

Good morning, Y'all! I knocked out my chores yesterday, because the news/weather people are talking about flash floods. I walked at the butterfly garden after I visited the library, and ran across a snake. Thankfully, he slithered off into the marsh. The water is very high both down there and also at the gully nearby where I live. I got some provisions and 3 library books, so I'm ready to hunker down if need be.
