A good afternoon to you all, I had a down in the dumps day yesterday, so didn't post here for fear of spreading my doom and gloom ...thankfully the magnesium is kicking in, and I should be back to my usual boring self tomorrow . Yesterday wasn't wasted because I threw myself into doing odd jobs around the house, and researching cures for persistent coughs.. I managed to recover the old family chair with the leathercloth we bought the other day, I will renew the back another time, because it's not a bad match and isn't completely worn out like the seat was, considering it was my first attempt at upholstering I am quite pleased with it. there was some of the original horsehair in the seat, but sadly no stash of money or jewels Sadly the health food shop idea came to nought, the one was closed down, presumably due to lack of interest, the other only sold dried fruit and spices... After browsing the internet for hours, I found that Lisa is most likely suffering from post nasal drip, which evidently can happen after a cold, it's difficult to cure and can go on for many months which failing antibiotics there is little else that the Doctor can do to help. I did find that honey is supposed to help, especially Manuka honey, which was mentioned on another thread concerning healing @karen's wound I think?, sadly it's not available here......anyway I did make up my own recipe using recommended ingredients, using some raw honey we bought at the local market, I boiled a whole lemon for 10 minutes and then chopped added it to a half cup of the honey, together with coconut oil, ground ginger, paprika and cayenne pepper which I simmered for an hour. The resulting syrup in Lisa's words tastes divine, which I must admit it does, considering neither of us care much for the taste of honey that is a good omen. It's early days but the cough is causing less of a problem already, so fingers crossed again....... We off on our trip to the Golden Ring again early tomorrow morning, then back Sunday evening................Monday we plan a day trip to Finland to get Lisa's new Shengen (European visa) stamped, it arrived this morning and lasts for 2 years. I will look some posts now and try and catch up.......I hope you are all well and enjoying the day....
Good morning to you all, we awoke to the strains of Mozart which was very pleasant. We will spend the day exploring the area after we have had what looks like a huge breakfast, the choice you have is three styles of Russian breakfast, I chose the one for a Russian nobleman it has 7 courses ????? It's a dull but at least a dry day so far........... enjoy your Friday and the weekend
We're going to have another beautiful day here with plenty of sunshine. Yesterday I spend more time outside gardening (pulling weeds and pruning) and had fun taking pictures of clouds, flowers, a bird nest I found in a bush, etc. as well as the birds feeding, and sitting on our porch talking with my Honey. It's Father's Day weekend and to all our fathers I wish a very joyful and blessed Father's Day!
Still can not figure it out. I must have had a long sleep last night. When I went to bed I was 74 years old and when I woke this morning I am 75 years old what a long night
Good morning friends, it's after 7am here and we are getting ready for another day of walking and exploring. We are going on another short train ride to an open air museum of Russian history, this morning, then the hotel have organised a friend to take us by car to some famous local waterfalls this afternoon.. Yesterday we walked pretty much all day through a huge forest, which deep inside had a military base in a disused monastery, together with a large bronze statue of St Nicholas celebrating the invention of the nuclear deterrent, all very weird.........we eventually ended up in a museum style restaurant serving traditional local dishes, and ate and drank too much, walked to back to the hotel and crashed out The last hotel was like living in a museum, while this one is like living in an art gallery, there are paintings by a local artist everywhere. We have been invited to a concert of baroque music tonight in the lounge area of the hotel...... Enjoy your weekend, will catch up with the posts soon....
Good morning to you all on a sunny Sunday morning, our last day here, we leave for St.Petersburg on the evening train. Yesterday was another long one of short train rides and walking, we just caught one train by rushing across the tracks in front of it I will post some photos of the places we visited when I get back. I guess doing so much each day, I fall into bed and sleep as soon as we return to the hotel.....
Just love the rain, @Maryt Hope ... I know what you guys mean, when I read your comments from the North. Summertime is fine, but thank God it happens only once a year.
