Gent's wearing a tie is rather inane in that it serves no purpose but to be seen as assuming the esthetic. A perfect object to grip in assault. A choking expensive ribbon of cloth to no purposeful end.

Out OUT! Damn tie say I, leave the throat unencumbered.
As the whale bone hoop abandonment, as the cod piece, spats, beauty marks and the useless lot let us openly encourage its demise. Do your part, if you see anyone wearing a tie scream as in the invasion of the body snatchers.

My maternal grandfather was always in a shirt and tie, he was a pharmacist and did wear a white coat over it but even on weekends he wouldn't get into anything comfy.

When they lived in an apartment in Chicago, a drunk that lived in the basement started a fire.

Everybody was rushing out of the building but my grandpa stopped to put his tie on. Pretty sure he was buried in a suit and tie...he was very proper.

    I loved him. :)

A tie finishes off an outfit, gives a man something to think about too, like which colour best goes with this suit
Love waistcoats (vests to you) :p
Do love to see a man take pride in his appearance - clothes maketh the man - they sure do

I haven't worn a tie in at least 30 years. I really can't remember when or why I last wore one. I disagree with you on this @Patsy Faye , clothes do not make a man.
Most of the worst criminals who ever lived wore suits and ties.

Good for him. Obviously a raging throwback to a time when antimacassars reigned supreme and a bit unsure of his manhood.;)

I do analysis like that free of charge based on my conclusions from what is offered.

Your conclusion is WRONG ...it's a good thing you don't charge for it. :)

He owned a Pharmacy in Hungary and when they immigrated to the USA he didn't know the language so he learned it and took the test to get his Pharmacist license in Chicago and he passed.

He was around 60 when he did this! He worked at Bethany hospital pharmacy for many many years.

He put on a stern facade but had a heart of GOLD.

His hobby was oil painting and almost everyone in our family has his paintings on our walls.

To each his own, but you are a clothes dinosaur from my point of view.

Yell out rather for nudity to be preferred than restrictive encumbrances with no practical purpose. Waistcoats indeed. Beaver hats and snuff boxes and as for "like which colour best goes with this suit", dispense with suits as well. Might just as well wear [IMG] This or [IMG]

Nonsensical attire will soon be in demise whilst need conquers tradition.

With that view there's no point to anything. Why decorate your home and garden. Just a bed and basics is all you need. BORING!

"K'' then , I am sometimes wrong but I still think of nagypapa as an inhibited, repressed, or excessively conventional person, (AKA tight ass ).
No offense intended, just my conclusion based on his predilection to choking himself with an unnecessary tie.:)

Your extrapolation is erroneous. Flowers are enjoyable to humans and insects. Decorations of the home if not glaringly or/and in awkward locations (like a tie), are as to lip gloss, enhancing. Though some might say a gilding of the lily.
Traditional wear that encumbers is rather different as it serves no purpose but custom and convention.

Extra things are cumbersome....they have to be cleaned and serve no purpose.

Maybe some men like wearing a tie and it doesn't bother them. Earrings don't bother me and some can be heavy.
