I notice what's on a person's t-shirt or baseball cap and that can kick in a little conversation.

Yes, along with being friendly, I'm very observant!!

I usually don't notice T-shirts because I really don't care about them but I notice other things.

For instance there is a teller at my bank who always wears the nicest jewelry, it really stands out from her plain navy suit they have to wear. Ive complimented her many times on it.

And she always opens a few minutes early if she see me standing there before 9:00am.

  3. OK, so I'm calling you on your statement- I can't speak for anyone else (other people's views), but you've never struck me as 'a pretty friendly guy' at all, but as someone who's ready to jump on or dismiss a person entirely if they disagree with you. Enough so that I generally stay out of your threads unless I have the same opinion you express on a subject, even if the threads are interesting topics.

Just told my wife what you said about me here and she started laughing. Have to admit, I done the same.
Why? Because, I am friendly and people who know me say the same. Not only am I friendly, but have a great sense of humor. My wife loves my great sense of humor.

What you are pertaining to is possibly my lack of compassion and that I'm pretty straight forward. Like many members on here, I will argue if I think I'm right about something. Absolutely NOTHING wrong with that.

So, no matter what anyone thinks, wife and I think I'm definitely friendly!!

I have always seen you as a basically friendly person, too, @Cody Fousnaugh , and one that I enjoy on this forum. I agree that you are outspoken about your views; but so am I , and so are many other people on here. Bringing different perspectives to any conversation is a good thing, assuming that we do not judge or humiliate any other person who has a disagreeing viewpoint.
I probably have some of the most controversial views of anyone on the forum; but i do not try to force anyone to agree with my views, I just like to share them in case someone else is interested in a different perspective, and I think that it is always good to keep our minds open and active.

As far as the OP; I also think that small towns are a lot more friendlier with strangers than larger towns are. When you go to the grocery store in a small town, everyone smiles and says hello, and they will stop and help you if your car breaks down. In a larger city, that kind of thing seldom (if ever) happens, and most people will ignore each other.

May have said this before...but I am more of and observer vs idle chit chat. Here recently have found myself being more engaging with people in the grocery store.
What bothers me is the question How are you ....response is always the same....Oh I am fine ...and you...oh I am fine to.
Hog pookey....Seldom are we really fine...but then again I understand the need not to unload on a complete stranger:p

I was at the grocery store yesterday and just happened to pass a woman and man who were greeting each other. He said, "You been behaving yourself?" On impulse, I said, "No! I saw her picture on the front page of the newspaper yesterday. And it was not good!" We all busted out laughing.

I used to be hurt when I was friendly with someone and they were not in return but I have learned to just Let It Go. I say hello and am friendly on most days but I also get my days when I don't want to talk to anyone and so therefore I guess some may be that way, too, or not. Regardless, I try not to let others make me different.

When someone feels to need to convince others how friendly they are, they may not be as friendly as they think they are.

The Waffle House we go to sometimes for breakfast, most of the staff know us. Our waitress will talk to us some, if she's not to busy. I think it's really a delight to go to a small restaurant where the employee's know you and will talk to you.

As stated many, many times on this forum, absolutely LOVE "smaller town" environments where most people are truly friendly and say "hi" to each other. Just can't help that I'm a "friendly" type person! Unfortunately, that some folks don't like humorous type people, of which I am.

I love someone with a good sense of humor and that's a must in a companion for me but there are different kinds of humor and some I don't care for.

I like a quick wit or a play on words etc....
