We will be getting lots of rain from Hurricane Harvey all the way through at least the middle of next week. But because our prayers are being answered we will not be getting as much rain as was predicted from the start of TS Harvey and we all are thankful for this. Those in Texas (Houston especially) we are still praying that the rain will not be as bad as first indicated for y'all either. Have a good weekend everyone.
Good morning everyone, I'm in a great mood and slept like a baby last night! I'm just going to enjoy this no stress feeling because who knows how long it will last, lol. Hope everyone in the path of Harvey survives without any damage! Have a great weekend.
Happy Sunday everyone, it's a beautiful sunny one here but set to get very hot by my standards anyway, I like 75f and no more I woke up more times than usual last night so I am slow getting going....... After all the reading paintings yesterday, today there is drinking involved.... Lisa went back to St.Petersburg last night and Cathy and my grandson Oliver are out for the day, so I am home alone, and can chill out and make as much mess as I like Enjoy your Sunday whether reading drinking or whatever takes your fancy.......
Good Morning. We have been blessed that we are not getting to much rain yet...more is predicted as we head into this week but I'm thanking God that He is answering our prayers. Have a blessed Sunday everyone.
Another stress free day for me...I hope. 106 today and the triple digits are back and looks like they're staying. Besides some cleaning all I have to do is some binge watching on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Have been watching a mini series called "Mildred Pierce". I don't think I saw the original so don't know if it follows that but it's pretty good.
If I had a daughter like her oldest daughter, Veda ....I'd smack her silly and I'm not the type to even hit a child. What a brat!! Now I'm going to have to watch the orginal "Mildred Pierce" with Joan Crawford...hope it's out there for free.
@Terry Page , I have seen that last picture somewhere before. I can't remember where I saw it or who painted it. I distinctly remember the grandfather with the newspaper and the little girl handing him a drink because it's so touching. Do you know who painted it and the title?
Yes @Shirley Martin it's called "Many Happy Returns of the Day" by William Powell Frith, 1856 The child 'Alice' in the painting is Frith's daughter, later Lady Hastings, the father is a portrait of the artist, and the grandmother is a portrait of Mrs Frith Senior, who kept the Dragon Hotel in Harrogate, from 1826 to 1838. The Grandfather who doesn't seem much interested was actually modelled from an old man Frith found in a workhouse.
Thanks, @Terry Page . I guess I like it for the same reason I like photos with people in them. I like picturing the interaction between them; what they are thinking and feeling.
It's called "La Lettre" so do you think she is maybe writing it for him @Shirley Martin , and his mind is on other things
Nope, I think he's thinking how he'd like to pull it off and see her hair come tumbling down around her shoulders. Or maybe we just said the same thing.
