Deplorable. Police claim the dough is "evidence". Sick, SICK. And nothing is being done to curtail it. Frank

Cop Takes Money From Wallet Of Hot Dog Vendor Who Had No License

"Critics are questioning a UC Berkeley campus cop's decision to focus crime fighting efforts on a hot dog vendor after video emerged of him seizing money from the man's wallet.

Claiming the hot dog seller was operating without a permit, the officer is heard in video defending the act as "law and order in action."

I wonder how many homeowners get fined and their money taken away from them when they rent out parking spaces during athletic events. Granted, there are no health issues but still, do they have permits and are they paying taxes on the money they collect?

People come out of the woodwork with ideas on how to make some extra cash whether it's selling hotdogs, ice, beer, coolaid, tacos or whatever so I wonder if the police in this case were shaking other "vendors" down as well?

I'm a strict law abider. I agree that the policeman shouldn't have taken the vendors money or wallet but the vendor should have had a permit if that's what is required to sell hot dogs.

He was campus police not a law enforcement officer. He has no authority to take money from anybody. At most, he should have told the vendor to leave the premises.

Kinda weird how things work out. The FB review of the incident has been viewed nearly 12 million times and a go fund me page was set up and somewhere in the neighborhood of 70K was put into the pocket of Flores.
I'll bet he can afford a permit and a real bacon hot dog truck now.

I hope he puts it to good use. There is a lot of money to be made in concession stands.
