It is the law but after you get your license who can stop you from going home and canceling your Insurance policy? Others may pay for it for six months and then let it expire, etc. Unless you get stopped by a cop or get in an accident who's going to know if you have active insurance or not?

The eyelashes are not illegal at least not in the UK @Babshunt, so I should imagine it would be the same in the USA.... however...they are down to personal taste...lol

They did a survey in the UK...and the eyelashes were voted the worst car accessory of all time... http://www.autotribute.com/26136/headlight-eyelash-ultimate-bad-taste-car-accessory/

Incidentally why do you folks have to renew your car insurance every 6 months ?... I thought it was bad here at every 12 months.

Bare in mind the longer you stay with your insurer the more you will pay...there is no respect for loyalty with insurance companies despite whether you have no claims, drive low mileage.. never get a ticket...and never make a claim. Insurance companies give all their best deals to new customers, so when you get your new quote for your renewal, do a comparison search and move companies, you'll be amazed at how much you'll save..

I never knew I would like those "eyelashes" Holly. I had never seen any on cars before....but when I saw them on my dream little car for the first time...they made me smile and they have made so many other people smile too. :) For some reason they make me feel joy when I see them...and these days anything that brings me joy is nice.

Insurance works different in different places. And over here I have compared and they all are within a couple of dollars of each other, the only difference is in what they are offering as coverage. I don't know why it's every six months...that's just the way it works over here.

Here Insurance quotes can vary massively depending on which insurer you go with Babs, of course you have to ensure you're getting like for like, but for example I insure with a very well known company here called First Direct...I have fully comprehensive Insurance , and included in that is roadside assistance, towing from anywhere that I break down to my home or to a garage of my choice.. and a courtesy car for up to 2 weeks if my car is involved in an accident and needs to go in for repair..

I have full No claims bonus ...I don't know if it's the same in the USA but it means if you haven't made any claims in 9 years you get a big discount..

They're a very good company, however like all insurance companies every year..the premiums go up... regardless of the fact that I drive less than 10,000 mile per year, and have no claims... so I get quotes from other insurance companies, and Direct Line will match the cheapest quote rather than me go elsewhere. On the odd occasion when they won't I change companies, and return as a 'new' customer to Direct line, still with my full No claims discount and get a quote again as tho' I was a new customer...even though they know I've been insured with them before... It's just the way it works here.

As for the eyelashes on your Kia.... we see them a lot here.. on Kia Souls ..on Vw beetles, Little retro style fiat 500's , and Minis.. mostly... ... I think they're cute to look at but I wouldn't want them on MY car... and as you say if it makes you smile and they're not illegal...then why shouldn't you have them? :D

We now pay$108 plus a few cents a month. This includes our renters insurance. But we are still paying on our car.The guy that took over the previous reps position gets on my nerves. Always wanting us to come in an discuss our policies. Why nothing has changed. Because he wants to try and sell us something else I am sure. Not going to happen.

I've always been a "walk to the beat of my own drum" kind of woman...and despite what surveys or anyone else says..."I'm doing it my way!" :D

Each state over here has it's own way of rating and pricing their Insurance. There's no regulation so they can just do what they want. But my Insurer did tell me that basically we are paying the premiums of all those who don't buy car insurance and get in wrecks, etc. It's not fair and believe me I am very frugal with our income and do the research, etc. to get the best buy for our bucks. Sometimes though...there is just no leeway.

I didn't know we had to renew. Every month it's just taken out automatically from my checking acct. I could switch companies if I wanted to but I don't want to.

Monthly is the option I chose, I could pay it quarterly or every six months or even for a year.

Yes, they just deduct it from our checking account too...but they do sent you a renewal notice every six months with in our case a raise in premiums too.

If they do I don't notice ...I just throw the envelope in my glove compartment. So far everything is the same, maybe a few dollars more since I got it 5 yrs ago.

After nine years of raised premiums (if I live that long) I'd probably think $5 off a month would be a big discount Holly. I really don't plan to be driving in nine years anyway...I don't love it now and at 75 I will absolutely hate it.

Well each state is different, but I am the bill payer over here so I definitely notice when anything changes.
