I'm not sure how widespread they are, but Perkins is a chain diner-type restaurant that I had associated mostly with the MidWest, only there was one next to the hotel we stayed at in Pennsylvania. I had only been in a Perkins restaurant once or twice before because we didn't have them near us when I lived in Michigan.

Anyhow, I could eat three meals a day in a Perkins restaurant for a month and not order the same thing twice, I think. The menu was very large, the prices were great, and the food was terrific.

My only complaint was that it took quite a while to get anyone's attention when we were ready to leave, because our waitress hadn't left us a ticket. However, they were very busy.

I give Perkins a big thumbs up.

We had Perkins out in Washington State, too. There were several that I can remember. I think Spokane had two of them, and when we drove from Spokane to Seattle, weoften stopped for gas and always stopped where there was also a Perkins. I think there was one in Ritzville, one in Ellensburg, and also in the Seattle area, although I can’t remember exactly where we used to stop over there.
Perkins always had great food, good service, and the prices were reasonable, and they kept your coffee cup full.

The food is still good but the wait is still horrible.

When I lived in Pennsylvania, it was the hang-out for the "old folks". I guess they didn't mind the wait since they had nothing else to do, but now that I am one of the Old folks, I haven't been there for a while.

On our way home from Philadelphia, we stopped at a Perkins and had lunch, and it was delicious ! I have not seen one since we moved out here to Alabama, and since it used to be a favorite restaurant when we lived in Washington State, both Robin and myself were happy to spot one along the highway.
They had a “pick two” lunch special, which featured several kinds of soups, salads, sandwiches, and desserts, and you could choose any two you wanted for $7.99.
I had a Cobb salad with a piece of their wonderful wild berry pie for dessert, and it was delicious, and just the right amount of food to be eating when traveling.
I wish they were in more places, and that we had one here in Huntsville . I noticed that most of the people we saw having lunch were seniors, @Don Alaska , so maybe this Perkins is a “senior hangout”, too ?

That little silver car in the picture was Robin’s rental car that we drove home with. It is a Ford Escape hybrid, and was a really nice vehicle.

When I was sent to Flagstaff from our home office in Phoenix, I often met my nephew Mike there for lunch at Perkins. Today, it is gone.

We have one here in Bullhead City, nice place, I cannot fault it, but my wife doesn't like it.

    (You know what that means!)
