Yeah, grits pretty much tastes like whatever you put on it. The only restaurant that I know of in Maine that serves it is Cracker Barrel, and I think we have only one those, far south of here. I ordered grits several times when I lived in Texas, though.

When I make grits for breakfast I put shredded cheddar cheese, butter, and real bacon bits in it along with salt and pepper. :)

Sounds good...I also like polenta with cheese or smothered with a mushroom sauce or whatever.

At one restaurant I go to for lunch with my daughter on occasion they have the polenta with the mushrooms as an appetizer...we split it...it's sooooo good and fattening. :)

I remember when I was real young and spent the night at my grandmother's. She fed me grits with chicken stew gravy on it and it was delicious! :)

Springfield, being both the Capitol as well as a big college town, attracting students from around the world, should have quite a variety of off-beat foods.

My Mother baked a goose, or duck, 4, 5 times a year for holidays. Wonderful to smell all the Czech goodies sizzling, baking, and cooking all at once, filling the house with indescribable aroma!

Another reason I'm glad I eat plant based. This comes up on a forum I go to from time to time and I can't even think about it.

Just thought of another food the "Rich & Famous" or just plain rich, might eat.............caviar. I remember watching the movie, Titanic, when the stars were having dinner and Leonardo DiCaprio said "no thanks, don't like it much" when a Server went to give him some.

I love it but too salty for me now.

I have had fish roe...plain and love that also but it's been a long long time.
