hahahaha...it's so true all our ''country style magazines'' horse and hound, readers digest , National Geographic etc..are always in the Doctors', or the dentist waiting room...
Not at my wife's PCP. All he has is golf magazine, because he's loves PGA. My VA doctors office doesn't have any magazines in it. Better have an iPhone to keep a person occupied until the doctor sees you at the VA Clinic! Anyway, this is Florida, known for many things, but "country life" isn't exactly one of them and definitely not farm or ranch country. Well, not like Colorado and Wyoming is.
I have subscribed to both of those in the past, but they have lapsed. I subscribed to Backwoods Home for many years, although they have recently gone Kindle only and, although I am subscribed to the Kindle edition, I can't get into reading a magazine digitally. Although I subscribe, I haven't looked at the last couple of issues. I don't know why, because I read books on Kindle all the time. I do get Self Reliance, which was started by people associated with Backwoods Home. It's not as good as Backwoods Home was, but I read every issue, since it's in print form. Not that I'd want you to leave here, but Backwoods Home does have an active forum. I participated in it quite a lot for a few years, but would rather spend my time here now, so I only check in with it every now and then. There's a lot of liberals there, though, and people do get snarky from time to time.
Funny, Ken......Farm & Ranch just sent me an e-mail about accessing the magazine online. It will take 6-8 weeks to get the magazine. Wonder what's up with that timeline? Seems like a long time. Mail really that slow? We don't ever plan on getting a farm or ranch, but sure like seeing the pictures in it and reading about the families that do own them.
Yeah, that timeline seems strange. I know that a lot of magazine are going either Kindle-only or web-only because not enough people subscribe to print publications anymore. That's sad. I no longer subscribe to a print newspaper, but that's only because I don't like paying to be lied to. I love monthly magazines, and enjoy them only on paper. I know what you mean about continuing an interest in something you no longer intend to do. I am not about to go traipsing off into the woods to be a survivalist, but I enjoy reading a lot of that stuff, and like knowing how to do some of it.
I don't subscribe to any newspaper at all either , but I do have a subscription to 2 monthly magazines. I have them on my kindle too, but I never read them, I always wait for the paper version to pop through the letterbox..
Ken, the BWH forum isn't as active as it once was now that the magazine is kindle-only. I, too, enjoyed that forum and found this one through the link you provided there. I think there are only two real liberals still on the BWH forum, although some folks are in the middle. I don't like magazines or newspapers on the kindle either, although, like you, I read books on my kindle all the time. Good day to everyone here. It was -1 F. (~18C.) when I got up this morning. My wife and I went on our biweekly (every two weeks) grocery shopping trip and by the time we got back, it was in the 20s F. Over two feet of snow still on the ground and we are supposed to get more this week. This is the time of year when the weather changes and the temperatures are milder, although we still get a lot of snow. I am starting seeds of the longer-season stuff in preparation for the Spring-Summer to come.
Yeah, I was sad to see the magazine go Kindle-only, and always enjoyed the forum. Between dealing with cancer and some other stuff, and then starting this one, I had trouble getting back into it, is all. Yes, I see that it's not nearly as busy as it once was. Thanks for trying us out here. I hope you'll stay.

Good Morning all... It's a glorious sunny morning ( although the forecast was for rain)... I'm by the window and I can feel the heat through the window. I'm waiting for my first ever supermarket shopping delivery. We were all talking about that the other day, and I decided I would get all my heavy and bulky stuff delivered.. (not fresh or frozen)... if the rain stays off after the delivery gets here, I'll go for a walk... if not.. I'll be spending this afternoon booking our holiday in Spain for around May or june... but I have a huge job to try and shift the pounds fast before we get there.. Good Morning, but............wife and I get so tired of going out to dinner and sick people being in the restaurants coughing and sneezing. Seems like so many people here just don't care about others getting sick. Terrible, just terrible. Another shooting last night on the northside of this city, where a lot of shootings do happen. It was between two cars and one adult male was killed. And, there was an infant in one of the vehicles. Apparently the infant was injured. When will this end........most likely, never.
It will, but my personal bet is not in our lifetime nor the next generation's...............................
Your right, Bobby. Not as long as there are drugs, gangs and so on.......which is very much a part of parts of this area. Not the area we live in, but definitely other parts.
