Our winter weather was pretty while it lasted but it only snowed for a couple of hours. That should be it for winter weather for us until next winter.
This was the worst storm we've had all year, and the one we had a few days ago was the second worst. Plus, it's not over; it's still snowing heavily here.
It's not working. I can get out my front door but the plow guy hasn't come by to do the driveway yet and is probably waiting for the snow to stop, which isn't going to be for a while, so I would have to trudge through the snow from the front.
He's probably snowed in too. I made my mind up when there is a snowstorm or heavy snowfall in the forecast to get out there and shovel before it gets to high. I know I would rather shovel a few inches of snow often than shovel a lot of snow for hours or days.
Particularly when it freezes overnight. Newly fallen snow is a whole lot easier to shovel than stuff that has accumulated overnight.
How much did you get? Is it over? We are snowing here, but the temp is just about at freezing, so our dry, fluffy snow on the ground is condensing and getting heavier and slicker. It was 38 F. yesterday, so stuff started to melt, then it re-froze overnight and new snow on top of the icy roads. Bad news! I hope you got out of your house and managed to get your driveway plowed. I was out much of the morning on the tractor trying to get the berms pushed back so I could widen the driveway a bit.
I don't know. I don't have any local stations. They were predicting 18 inches, but it's still snowing pretty hard. It's supposed to let up some tonight.
I don't know. Probably about 18 inches, but it came a few days after we had about 12 inches, and now they're talking about another storm on Tuesday. Yeah, I can get out, and have cleared my backdoor now. I can't get my car out, but I don't need to.
They may have canceled our Tuesday storm due to lack of interest. Weather forecasts are now showing a slight chance of snow tonight but clear days ahead, albeit not much above freezing.
We had snow last night--just a couple inches, but now the temp is 39 F. and our 2-3 feet of snow cover is becoming slushy...what a joy! I'm sure it will freeze again tonight and get crusty. Spring in Alaska is my wife's least favorite season as it is so slushy and muddy when the snow melts but the ground is still frozen several feet down. The snowmelt has no place to go other that to sit on the surface waiting for the soil to thaw.
I think it's over. Although we still have a few feet of snow in most part of our yard, there are a couple of bare patches, mostly around trees, and I don't see anything on the horizon that looks like snow. It has been raining today, and our snow is melting fairly fast, this despite the fact that it's only been a few degrees above freezing.
