I got started in Woodworking several years ago and I do enjoy it. I have designed and built Heirloom Quality Children's Rocking Chairs. I also make other items as the need or idea arises. Mostly building items for my Grown Children and Grandchildren. I have made a few items and shipped them out to various individuals at their request. Made several Lidded Yarn Bowls and many functional Wooden Bowls. Some Domestic Hardwoods and I use some Exotic Hardwoods.

The chairs are gorgeous. My darlin' made one out of pegs - not full size, but big enough to sit Dolly :p
Must be great working with wood

Wow! I can sure see the quality and talent in those items. They are amazing!

Edit to add: I wouldn't just call it woodworking, it's absolute art!

I love working with wood but I don't have the room, either for the work itself or for the tools. I have been playing around with the idea of a work shed in my backyard but am thinking that maybe I'll convert the attic to that purpose. It's not ideal but it's available.

That's some beautiful work, Roger. I couldn't make anything that impressive, but I have made the desk that I use in my office and some other furniture around the house, although it's more utilitarian than art.

    Ken,
That is what I have, a shed out back. No heat, so I pretty much cease operations during winter months. Cold not good for glue and finishes. During cold months I hibernate and work on inlays and do some Goose Egg Carving. Just got started on the Goose Eggs this year so still learning that one. Weather about to straighten up so maybe get back into shed soon.

@Roger Marrs I worked with a very clever guy who had an engraving machine, and made custom handgun grips. Wish I had some pictures. He used some extremely exotic woods, some from Africa, and cut the "blanks" such that the direction and location of the woodgrain matched on one side to the other. Trying to recall some of the names, Coco-Bolo, Zebrawood, come to mind.

Edit: Beautiful work you show us!

My hubby has made numerous items for us and others with wood. As I type he is still out in garage working on my sideboard that I need really bad.

Your work is amazing! I had to give up woodworking because of my hands and arms. I love old tools and old methods, especially hand planes.
