Thank you, @Holly Saunders ! We have been planning on selling the old station wagon anyway; but we were not ready to have it just break down like it did yesterday. My daughter has a co-worker/friend who is selling his Toyota minivan and buying his wife a new vehicle. Robin is buying the van for me; but we can’t get it until he has found his replacement vehicle. So, a better and safer car is in the future, but for right now, Bobby has been carrying all of his tools and equipment that he needs for helping work on that house that he has been helping with since last December. It was supposed to only be a few weeks of work and then the owners are selling the house, but here it is almost a half year later, and they still aren’t done; so I have been driving around a rolling garage/shop for the last few months. Once that is done, then Bobby can put his tools back out in his shop, and we can sell the old wagon. In the meantime, now he has to find and replace the broken hose (or whatever it is).
Bobby looked at the car this morning, and the broken hose is up inside somewhere, and not just something easy to fix, so we decided to do something else with it entirely. I have a friend who needs a car. She is a hard-working lady who has managed the apartments across the street from us for a number of years, but now the landlord has decided to sell the apartments; so she is losing her job and her home as well. Even worse, she was driving his pickup, and he has taken that back too, because he has some problem with his other vehicle. Bobby and I really like Sharon, and we decided to ask her if she wants the car and has a way to get it fixed. When I talked with her on the phone today, she was so happy that both she and I were in tears ! She said she has been praying for a miracle, and this car is a miracle in her life. She said she knows someone who can fix the car, too; so that should help out a lot. Besides working, she is also raising her grandkids, and she had no way to get them to doctors appointments, buy groceries, and stuff like that. Since the car is a stationwagon, it will be great for doing all of that. Even though it is not the best car in the world, it is better than not having a car, and I think that once she gets the broken hose replaced, it should do fine for what she needs it to do.
It feels good when you can help someone in need!! Well done @Yvonne Smith .....and @Bobby Cole. The world would be a better place filled with people like you.❤️
What a wonderful blessing y'all have given Sharon. May our heavenly Father continue to bless you and Bobby as y'all bless others. And may He provide Sharon with a new job and new home for her and the grandkids, and anything else that would be needed for the car y'all blessed her with to provide her with safe transportation for as long as she needs it.
@Yvonne Smith , wow that is wonderful news , how fantastic that out of your misfortune , came fortune for Sharon... , and ultimately you will get your own new (used ) car very soon... God helps those who helps others, I'm absolutely sure of that...
My yesterday was my bloodwork. Everything is normal but thyroid wasn't so I got cut back to 75 Mcg from 88. She wants me to repeat in 3 months ...for one thing I had to go to a new lab because Quest Diagnostics didn't take my ins anymore. I was so PO'd...it was a fasting lab and I got to the place at 6:45 and was first in line. Then she tells me the bad news (for me). Anyway I finally found the new lab and it was empty...not a good sign but I had it done. My glucose came back a tad high so dr did an A1C and it was 5.1 which is good supposedly. They also forgot to do my B-12 which was a separate sheet. Grrr I lost 4 lbs and my BP was 116/68 and I don't take BP meds so that's also good...at least I think so. Of course I just filled my levothyroxine for 3 months last week at the 88 mcg. Today I filled for 75.
Yes, I do. Wow that's a lot though. My mom was on 88 mcg and she had her thyroid removed due to cancer.
At one time I was on 200 mcg daily, but I couldn't keep weight on and was shaky even though I ate constantly. I am on nothing now. I found women to be happiest with TSH levels around 1.0 mIU, even though the supposed normal is much higher than that. After menopause, female thyroid function seems to drop. It also drops during pregnancy but usually returns to normal within 2 weeks. Some researchers think that failure of the thyroid to return to normal after delivery contributes to postpartum depression--just a theory, though.
My peak today...:...I went over to my neighbours land, and took some pictures of the new spring lambs and their mamas, and also of the mustard rape growing really high now.... I also chopped up some large Sweet potatoes into carrot sizes and took a bag to feed my neighbours horses... they love them.... here's some pics from today... The mustard Oilseed rape is about 5 feet high now...
Your BP is a little below normal range, but all-in-all, very good. From my medical background, in emergency medical and some years in Senior Healthcare, being thin can be good and bad, “bad” meaning too thin. But, it sure looks like you really take care of yourself!
My dr said they're actually changing the guidelines to 116/70....or something like that, just that its lower than the present guideline. Trust me I'm not too thin...the weight I lost was weight I had gained in the last year.
Well, to some folks you are too thin or just plain thin. Our "body weight index" tells us we are overweight-to-obese, but, we see folks at Walmart, driving those electric shopping carts, that really, really outweigh us. See the same thing at our local buffet restaurant. We both know we have some 20 extra pounds on us, but compared to these folks, we are skinny.
