Started watching this a few days ago. Think there are two seasons so far. It's on Hulu which I don't have so I bought season 1 on Amazon Prime.

Ive watched 5 episodes and I really like it. Also got the book on kindle for free the other day.

Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, this series is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be part of the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state, and is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate. In a desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude. One of these women, Offred, is determined to survive the terrifying world she lives in, and find the daughter that was taken from her.

It sounds like the antithesis of a novel of the 1960's named Limbo in which the men of the world are turned into sexual toys and women rule everything. That was never made into a movie that I know of as it was too controversial at the time. I think I still have a copy around somewhere....

Never heard of that! But I do like the idea of women ruling everything and men being sexual toys, lol.

    I'm just kidding...........Maybe. :p

I've seen the first season, and it's very good. I'll probably have to start over in order to follow it now though.

Yes and unlike some Dystopian novels or shows this seems possible. I can't stand watching the zombie ones.

One or two zombie movies were fine, but there have been entirely too many of them.

Well I finished Season 1 and enjoyed it very much...give it 5 stars.

The only way for me to watch season 2 is thru Hulu which I don't have or want. Boohoo.

I have Hulu but a problem with Hulu is that they often have things on for only a short time. I cut the cord because I didn't want to wait a week for another episode of a series, which I may or may not remember to tune into. I prefer binge-watching. Yet with Hulu, if I wait for a series to be over before watching it, or even if I wait for a season to be over, sometimes, they will remove the earlier episodes. More than once, my wife would tell me about a series she was watching on Hulu but, by then, the first few episodes had already been removed. Plus, I have a hard time finding things on Hulu so, although I have it, I rarely watch it.

Guess I'll just wait until I can buy it on Amazon like I did for season 1...don't know when that will be because I don't even know when season 1 aired.

I love the show. I am also a lover of all things dystopian.

I''m wondering why you don't get Hulu. I have it and spend the extra $2.00 or whatever to skip all ads. Of course, we don't have cable or satellite, and there are no stations we could get with antenna.

It could certainly be less expensive than buying from Amazon Prime.

It's about $8.00 a month, but if that's not in your range, you could always wait until the end, sign up for Hulu, then binge-watch Handmaid's Tale, then stop your subscription.

The first season was supposed to be the only season, as it went through the whole book. I was afraid that they wouldn't be able to keep it consistent and still good, but the second season, so far, is fabulous!
