Hi from Vienna, waiting for our onward flight to Sofia, it's a very hot day here as well, like a lot of the world we seem to be having a prolonged heatwave.......... not that we are leaving the air conditioning of the airport ;)

    Enjoy your day [IMG]

What is a “cream tea”, @Holly Saunders ? Is it more like what we call chai tea latte, or something altogether different ?

Yes I agree @Holly Saunders travel has also made me realize, that in general apart from our culture, we are all the same, friendly and helpful, as David Lynch the movie director said, it's governments that create most of the problems in the world :(

I college, I papered the ceiling of my dorm room with maps of the world so I could lie in bed and dream of the places I could go someday.

I hope you read this Chrissy: Went to JIA (Jacksonville International Airport) this morning with my wife. We had never been there before and wanted to make sure where we were driving to, when we fly out.

Walked thru part of the airport, before the TSA Checkpoint, and nobody wearing a cowboy hat and no Wrangler jeans (everyone was in either shorts or slacks). One guy had cowboy boots on and that was it.

So I'm right, that we will get "looks" when we go to the airport, due to having cowboy hats on, boots and Wrangler jeans. People will probably figure we are flying to Texas and that's far from the truth. In fact, even a clerk at the Information Desk was shocked when we told him where we were flying to (Denver) and what we'd be wearing. He said "I've never seen anyone wearing Western clothes here ta the airport.".

Anyway, I'm right. We will look odd, but that is fine with us. Jacksonville is NOT Casper, Wyoming...….that's for sure.

Good evening and goodnight folks [IMG] we arrived early in Sofia at around 6pm local time, having moved 2 hours into the future [IMG] our place to stay tonight, is the home of a Bulgarian actress/artist who is charming. The apartment is spacious and Ina the owner lives in an adjoining part of the building. I will post some photos tomorrow.

There is no air conditioning but it's cool enough being in an old building.

We have been walking around Sofia since we arrived and have just got back after a meal at a nearby restaurant, the time is coming up to midnight, so I will wish you a goodnight and catch up with soon.

Yvonne I don't know what a chai tea latte is but this is a typical Cream tea... yummy-cornish-cream-tea.jpg

We didn't have it yet, instead,
after we took a whole load of stuff from the garden to the recycle centre
we went over to the pub in a country village belonging to the parents of one of our Celebrity TV Chefs, and had lunch in the sun.. soo nice . ..then popped into the farm shop on the way home for some home made bread and fresh duck eggs. We had to laugh , yesterday a village close by had a wheelbarrow race, and the they had to close the roads off to traffic because so many people turned up..lol... I'm always surprised at what people will find hugely entertaining.. but each to their own..:D

Today is much hotter than yesterday around 90 degrees , we've just had breakfast tea in the garden and watched the Kites ( birds ) flying gently over catching the thermals... and in a little while we're going over to have the cream tea at the garden centre, and see if I can find something nice to buy with the vouchers I got for my birthday too ...

I could do with being near the sea and walking along the beach like you @Chrissy Cross , but that won't be happening today . ..hopefully you're a lot cooler now than at home..

    Enjoy Bulgaria @Terry Page

    Have a good Sunday everybody...

The picture looks marvelous, @Holly Saunders ! Some kind of scone (biscuit, muffin?) with butter and jam , or maybe cream cheese and jam ? And then a nice hot pot of tea served with cream and sugar. Am I close ?
A chai tea latte is a spiced hot or cold tea made with a lot of added milk, similar to how a coffee latte is made.

Good evening, last nights stay in Ina's house was good, and this morning we wandered around Sofia on a perfect summers day...... the rental car a red Renault was delivered this afternoon, and we have driven for a couple of hours to an ancient small town called Koprivshtitsa, high in the mountains it's a fascinating place and much cooler, barely 70f.

Here are some photos of the apartment we stayed in..

You're spot on Yvonne, it's a scone, usually a fruit one rather than cheese or plain, served with clotted cream and Jam, ( rarely butter) and a pot of hot tea with cream or milk and sugar ...

I had it today, hubs came with me but he neither drinks tea or eats scones, so he had a glass of wine.

My scone was HUGE, so I didn't finish it but it was delicious...

I had a birthday voucher for the garden centre but instead of buying anything for the garden which would be my usual thing...( I already have lots of plants and shrubs and tools and pots etc)...I bought a set of Coloured ceramic Carving knives...
