Not making it a big deal, but YOU seemed to think that there are folks in Jacksonville that wear Western clothes at the airport. When we were there on Saturday, there was only one guy with jeans and boots on and that was it. Everyone in shorts, slacks and tennis shoes. People wearing Western clothes is not unique to Jacksonville at all, but of course it is in parts of Colorado and most of the other Rocky Mountain and High Plains States. This was the only point I was trying to make.
well, because you've made quite an issue out of what you'll be wearing, so I'd be interested to see a picture of how you both look ..or maybe give us a link to your FB page..
A new photo posted of us at a big roping here, at the Jacksonville Equestrian Center. 99% of the people watching were not from Jacksonville. I looked at the Competition Entry Book. I was at this event taking pictures.
Yea, it took some time, but she wound up fitting right into the "rodeo family". Had to learn how to talk "rodeo" though. But, she loved seeing me in a saddle with a rope in my hand.
Unfortunately, really very little here is "Western", like in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, the Dakota's and so on. To this day, we still can't figure out why we thought we'd make it here.
Just out of curiosity, @Cody Fousnaugh, is what you are wearing a Stetson hat or any cowboy hat? I see different hats in your pics. How many cowboy hats have you got if you don't mind me asking?
Holly, did you look up Cheyenne Frontier Days on your internet, yet? Take a look. One thing for sure, it sure isn't a UK thing, right?
Have a two Resistol's (straw and black felt) and a Boot Barn/Cody James straw. Wife has two Wrangler straw hats and a black felt (don't know the brand). Many rodeo cowboys wear straws during the summer months, due to nice ventilation in them...…...especially at outdoor rodeos. Felts are winter hats, but some wear them to indoor rodeos during the summer months.
This "rodeo" thing and Western wear seems rather odd to many on here. When wife and I met the very first time, she was wearing her cowboy hat, Roper brand jeans and "pointed" type cowboy boots. First thing I told her was, "those boots have to go". She agreed and we bought a pair of black Roper boots and then a pair of Ariat Lace-Up Roper boots. She got rid of her "pointed" boots.
Very interesting since coming straight from the horse's mouth. I see a lot of guys over here wearing jeans and just those pointed cowboy boots probably thinking those make them a(n urban) cowboy.
