I LOVE the Gipsy Kings! I saw them in San Francisco in the early 1990s and was awestruck by how many acoustic guitars were on that stage. They really did change my taste in music. For years, I would play any of their music while cleaning house. It really sped things up!
Etta James & Dr. John: Started with "I'd Rather Go Blind" and surfed off from there. I watch this one often. I love Etta James. I love Dr. John. I love "I'd Rather Go Blind," which Etta always said she wrote with her friend Fugi Jordan, but she gave the rights to her no-goodnick boyfriend of the time for tax reasons. She never got a dime of the royalties. Anyway, the fireworks start at 2:02 in this video when she sees Dr. John, I believe it was a genuine surprise for her. They had performed this song on The Midnight Special in 1982, though nowhere near as well, which gives you a bit of background about their chemistry. Got a much deserved day off. Wife at work. Time to crank it up... Met the bass guitar player at Comstock, when they played Nebraska and we talked about the possible connection of our families. That is something I'll always remember. This one is one of my favorites.
