Pit-- awoke to 40 F. this morning. A reminder that we are in the slide toward winter. Peak-- it is supposed to be in the high 70s F. this afternoon and sunny! A great time to sit on the swing and watch the swans and ducks.
Pit ..very hot and humid today.. brought on RA pain in my fingers... very sore for a few hours, felt like I'd jammed my fingers in the door.. Peak ...None really...
@Holly Saunders Your RA pain kind of corroborates my wife's claim that when the humidity and dewpoint are high, her fingers swell, like "hot dogs", she says. Today it is 108F with dewpoint 60 degrees, and that level troubles her, but she does not have pain. Years back, in summer she got tiny little bumps on her fingers, the size of goose-flesh bumps, that itched like crazy. Those she no longer is troubled with. Go figure. Frank
I am only on my second week of retirement. Best part so far is staying up as late as I want. I have always been a night owl. So far no pit but then again I am on anti depressants and cannot remember the last time I felt down or sad.
Me too Vinny. I took early retirement last year at .. and after years of getting up at 5.30am, I am delighted to be my own time boss as a lifelong night owl
One thing for sure, neither of us are "night owls". Since my wife still works a full-time day job, the latest we generally go to be is 10:45PM, but even at that time, she feels sleepy in the morning at 6:45AM, when it's time to get up. If we go to be at 10 or 10:15PM, we have a much easier time getting up the next morning. Even though I am retired, I get up every morning with her. It motivates her to get up, when she sees me get up. I could never sleep-in during the week when she gets up. Have to be there when she leaves for work for a kiss "goodbye" and "I love you" also...…….as she takes off. Every Monday thru Friday morning. On the weekends, there are times we will take a 2-hour nap in the afternoon. Actually, I use to be a real "night owl" on weekends when I was single/divorced.
Pit:...My deep freeze has packed up. I've just had to throw a ton of meat , fish and chicken products away. The veggies are still frozen, so I've shut the lid down on the freezer until I can work out what to do..
It's always something .... Sorry about everyone's Pits. My stomach hurts...have been eating too much...
We lost every bit of our frozen meat, like others did here, when our electricity was off for two days after Hurricane Irma hit us last year. We did have a large ice chest full of ice for things in the frig, but couldn't save the stuff in the freezer. Lots of bad wrapped up meat in the trash bin outside.
Sure is Gloria... My problem is that our recycle wheelie bin isn't big enough to take all the food from the freezer, and even if I were to be able to fill it with some, it's 2 weeks before they empty it, and in this heat it will be rancid, and stinking by then..so I have no idea where I could dump it.. and now I have to buy another Deep freeze.
@Holly Saunders ...if it was just defrosted and not bad yet, could you donate to a shelters food kitchen??
It would be a great idea but they won't take fresh/ frozen food Chrissy.. it has to be canned or packet...it's such a waste...
