Hummm, there are those here that know things about horses. As Darth Vader said to Luke...…"Impressive, most impressive".

Pit (yesterday): Way to hot and humid, BUT......as they say here, "welcome to Florida".

    Peak (yesterday):
Wife didn't need a new battery in her iPhone. At work, "Roaming" was bringing down her phone battery. Her phone battery is fine.

We now get both The Outdoor Channel and Wrangler Network. Outdoor Channel is part of a Sports Entertainment Package we now get for $5 per month (added on to our cable/internet bill). Also, now get the Military History Channel, that is very interesting. Nice thing about the Outdoor and Wrangler Network channels is that we now get recorded an "live" rodeo action, as well as, hunting programs. IOW, Elk, bear, white-tail and mule deer.

The Wrangler Network is free with the new Roku Streaming Stick we bought and I installed. Got Netflix back, so we can resume watching the last season of Longmire.

Last "Peak": Buying the Doobie Brother's Greatest Hits CD at Walmart. Only $5!

So, other than the heat/humidity,...…...nice-to-GREAT day.

Pit :...The heat . Don't get me wrong I love the heat but we've been diy'ing all weekend in the garden in 90 + temps and the humidy was very high so despite wearing linen and cotton and as little as possible, I still got soaked through constantly.. I can't tell you how often I've had to shower and change clothes...and I was so thirsty I managed to get drink 6 pints of ice cold water..

Peak...hubs got all new solar powered lighting installed in our new barn...and I have been renovating a a large apothecary style cabinet I bought in a thrift shop for £50 .. I stripped it down yesterday and under-coated it, and let it dry overnight, then put the top coat on today, and tomorrow I'll finish the whole thing off , and it should be a perfect match for a sideboard I bought last year for £££'s...

Later we went off to the village pub for a late lunch and a drink

Holly, I would only suggest that you switch from water to beer. Six pints of clod beer will cool you off, and you won't mind the heat nearly as much....

Begging your pardon, and nit-picking a bit, alcohol is basically tasteless, having an irritating "bite" only.

See, you equate "alcohol" with alcohol-containing drink. When mixed with a variety of other things, or distilled like voidka, or other distillates, yes, those can and do taste vile, even horrible, as gin tastes, to me. The "vileness" of gin, BTW, comes from the little berries found on Juniper or Cedar trees.

You likely haven't tasted pure alcohol, or watered-down pure alcohol. 'Tis a shame indeed that alcohol has found it's way irretrievably into the fabric of society, in beverages. In other uses, alcohol is a wonderful material! Useful as a fuel, multi-talented solvent, starting material for many organic syntheses, antifreeze, and so on. In reality, there exists many thousands of "alcohols", some of which you will not recognize as such, Glycerine being one.

@Frank Sanoica for years I thought gin was vile stuff and tasted like drinking pine trees. A number of years ago, while I was travelling on business (and other people paying), the other people were drinking martinis so I decided to give it a go. To my surprise, I REALLY liked it. I have since found out that there is a big difference among gins on the market, and, generally, you get what you pay for. Recently I have discovered a gin here made entirely of Alaska products and boy is it good. I suspect there is spruce tips in with the juniper, as it doesn't quite taste like regular gin, and it has won a number of awards. The Gin and Tonic was invented to get Brits in India to take their quinine (antimalarial of the time). They couldn't get the quinine down, as it tastes awful, but apparently British folks will drink ANYTHING if you add gin to it. The quinine water currently on the market is nowhere near as strong as the therapeutic stuff, but I find it a very refreshing drink on a hot day when I don't want the filling tendencies of beer. The name of the Alaska gin is Aurora. I don't know how widely it is distributed, but if you can find it, give it a try.

Oh you think I wouldn't know or recognise Glycerine or that I wouldn't know that the aroma of gin comes from Juniper berries which I use in cooking , or that I would know alcohol is used in a variety of materials, none less than anti- freeze ?..you seem to give me credit for very little intelligence Frank ... i don't know whether to feel insulted, or amused ...

Me, too, so I decided not to wear clothes at home at all and stopped having guests because it would force me to get dressed somehow. Temps will be well above 100 (up to 105) until Thursday. How can one socialize with temps so high if there's no A/C?
