@Joe Riley, tree hugging songs will not make me feel guilty. I'm on a roll. In town, the smaller tree at the arrow is next on my hit list. Too close to the large poplar beside it. It's roots stick above ground and you can't mow over them. It is a red maple and was an exchange for recycling a Christmas tree. I thought it would turn red in the fall. Nope. Yellow.
Sunday I had to trim some tree limbs hanging in your face over the steps going down to the barn. Just looked up slippery elm because of that song and found out that's what it is. What a coincidence! Did you know people take slippery elm bark powder to cure almost everything? Some goat breeders claim it's a good herbal wormer. I'm skeptical. My grandmother made elm into a two syllable word. She always said "ell-um". (Where did that memory come from? )
Finished fence repair. Metal posts about 6' apart---one right beside each wood post and one half way between them. Two hour job. Three hours to get motivated. Phone camera not doing so well in low light, or when there's a big contrast. Opposite direction no better.
@Don Alaska, over 7000 feet total, and almost all through the woods. Trees fall on it all the time. Slide Show (a trip around the perimeter when it was first installed)
Amazing!!! Nancy, I think that you should talk to your PCP about prescribing some tranquilizers, you have way too much ambition for one person!!!
Yeah! Putting up 7000 feet of fence in two hours is more than most fencing crews could do. Wanna come up here and do some fencing?
I misunderstood. That stretch was about 60 feet. It took a large crew about a week to do the perimeter fence, including a lot of grading and clearing.
Oh my gosh, look at you! I worked on the double gate today and got one side open. Can get the mower to the back yard better! I think I need a new gate because the one damaged has a bent post. Should be an easy fix! Yeah, me!
Pam, I just pulled up a video on chain link fence. Anything like this is interesting to me. What if the old pole is set in concrete? Doesn't sound too easy to me. We like pictures. ( Hint ) Good luck.
