I think it's an Indian, but don't know the year. I'm not even sure it's an Indian but most of the really cool ones were.
I've seen that motor jail one before... I remember thinking how easy it would be for the prisoner to choke the life out of the copper... *yikes*..wonder if anyone ever did..
This was my dad with his old motorcycle. Not sure when the picture was taken; but I think it was when they were living in California in the late 1920’s. The motorcycle looks fairly old even in the picture, and I imagine that it was well used before my dad got it; so I have no idea what year it would have been made, or even what brand it was.
1921 Cleveland with sidecar advertising KLIM that's MILK spelled backward! This is from the same company that originally produced None Such brand mincemeat.
Harleys were designed with a variety of different engine schemes, each being nick-named strangely: Shovel-Head, Pan-Head, etc. My sister's second husband, when she met him in about 1949, rode a big, noisy Harley. The first time he came up our drive, the noise was quite loud in the house, my Dad remarking, "What the HELL is that?" My sister answered, "It's Bud." Bud's ride had a clutch operated by your foot, like a car, a shift lever mounted beside the gas tank, operated by the hand, was kick-start only, and had fat tires. That's all I remember! Frank
@Beatrice Taylor The bigger carnivals when I was an early teen began featuring a ride dubbed "Hoffmeister's Rotor", not motorcycles, but people plastered against the wall! I supposed Mr. Hoffmeister built them, with hisname attached under contract. Frank
Not exactly a motorcycle, maybe an example of the first snowmobiles ? The information said this was about 1907, if I remember right.
OMG, my mom took me on a ride like this at Palisades Park when I was a kid. I was terrified and was crawling on the floor trying to jump or fall off this horrible ride. She felt awful about the entire situation. As well she should have.
