We are living in our 9th house. I worked for a company where I as the guy they sent to turn around offices losing money or whose VP quit and needed to be replaced. They paid for everything, even packing and unpacking so it was easy most times. Three of those houses were not company moves. Just bored and needed a new city to explore. How many houses have you owned? I have met a few gypsies like me who owned more.

"How many...." would be quite an unusual question over here because there's hardly anyone who has owned more than one house in their whole lifetime. The real estate market is completely different where I live. Houses are prohibitively expensive and for the vast majority it takes a lifetime to pay off the mortgage. It is also quite uncommon to sell a house after a couple of years and to move again and buy a condo instead, which is what I did. The vast majority of people want to buy a house and die in it. That's the ideal. Because the labor market is more flexible than the real estate one, most people cannot afford to even think about buying a house until they have a reasonably paid and, what's more, an, in all likelihood, permanent job.
Pretty much the same here @Thomas Stearn . I've lived in lots of houses through childhood, and my first few houses as an adult were naval Married quarters, so not owned by me... I've owned 4 houses tho'... still own 3.. 2 of which we rent out...
Well we have this one...and our second home overseas... then I very small one which hubs owned before we got married. ( I had to edit that because we had 2 small ones but we sold one)
I have owned a home in Napa, California, two in Fresno. California. three in Christchurch New Zealand. I no longer own any property or home.
Five. But since none of them were paid off before they were sold....the bank or mortgage company really owned them.
@Babs Hunt, if you have to pay property taxes, no one ever owns a home--the government always owns it and rents it to you. If you don't pay the government reant, you are evicted.
My point exactly....that's why I prefer to rent now and let others pay property taxes, insurance, and maintenance I've done it both ways and at this season of my life I prefer renting.
