It's such a small amount of Fiber One that needs to be eaten that I don't eating it to be a problem at all. And as you said Chrissy the calories are also so low that there is no problem with that either. I tried it a long time ago and hated the taste, but they must have improved it because it doesn't taste bad to me at all now...even if I just munch on a few twigs. :)

I had thought you meant you had gone from the Twigs to the Flakes, of Fiber One, which tastes much better.

No, @Chrissy Cross, they are not interchangeable. Citrucel is methylcellulose and I believe it is made from citrus rind. It doesn't ferment in the gut as other fiber supplements do. Psyllium fiber is the most common fiber supplement, and ferments rapidly in the lower intestine producing copious amounts of gas in most people, at least at first. Citrucel may be more effective per unit of fiber than other supplements since it doesn't degrade in the same way, but I don't know that for sure. Bran and psyllium DO, however, feed the intestinal flora, so they have a benefit that the Citrucel does not. My wife uses the Citrucel because she doesn't like the gas that other fibers produce, and gets addition fiber from fruits and veggies instead of grains. I think methylcellulose is under patent as a supplement, and that is why it is so expensive, but it may also be more expensive to produce. It is somewhat related to K-Y Jelly (hydroxyethylcellulose), and a similar product was marketed in the '70s as a bread, but it was pulled when people stopped buying it as it was made from sawdust. The bread was delightful, though. I can't recall the name, but it was a high-fiber, very low calorie and carb product that looked and tasted just like good white bread.

Thanks for the info....Ive only checked one store so far but will continue looking.

It would be nice to have something else for breakfast occasionally but I do need my fiber.

Maybe I should pray a little bit for what I have done. I have eaten pancakes for three days in a roll. A short stack, three five inch pancakes with a pat of butter between and one solitaire y sausage patty with real maple syrup, so thin and so tasty. But if I had my fathers I'd rather have what Cody is having or what he said he likes or rather have. But I don't cook and my beloved keeps talking about quitting c ooking her won self and we havwe discussed what options we might have if she follows through. Burning up about three meals a week on average. She'svery limited what she can eat and I am almost as bad, so we're working on a solution or at least thinking about one. Cheers.
