The gross of Ghost grows grosser than a gross of ghosts.

Rusty loves grapes too, but has to bounce them around in his mouth until they are situated between upper and lower teeth, and they sometimes fall out. I had to poke them to make them less round.

Bought some apples on the way home. :)

Intended to install the light fixture today, but that didn't work out (long story). In fact the whole day sort of went like that. Start something, get all the stuff together, then get stuck, need to stop and think. Start something else. Repeat. Finally decided to do the closet floor one coat (clear poly).

It turned out too red! Cherry is the one wood color I don't .like, and that's the color.

"DO NOT THIN FIRST COAT", they said, so I didn't. I wanted the first coat to sink in well, and there are some spots it didn't. I don't think it will help to thin the second coat.

It makes me angry at myself. In hindsight, it was clear the recommendation was from someone who was trying to counter some standard advice. Otherwise why would they even mention it? You have to watch for that on DIY videos. People have their set opinions, and they won't let go.

No pictures. It looks patchy right now---shiny on the hard parts, and dull on the soft parts---as expected. I guess the red color means it must be old heart pine? I may not do the second coat for a few days, and get back on that light again. Just thinking out loud.

Sometime on a next project, consult your local paint store regarding things like sanding sealer, grain filler, and pore filler. They may make your jobs easier, but the products differ, so I would consult an expert, not someone at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Wal-Mart unless you know that they are professionals.

Verdict this morning. There are a few cracks between some of the boards on the floor, less than 1/16 inch, and you can see this morning the polyurethane did not go down into the cracks. This was a good brand of polyurethane---Minwax. Much thicker than I remembered poly to be.

Everybody's in a hurry to finish I guess. I'd rather do multiple coats. It's not like you have to do this every year. If finishing floors is your profession, I can understand the hurry I guess. Few want to pay, or can afford to pay, to have a good job done.

Will thin it down on the 2nd coat to get it into the cracks. They show up like a sore thumb in a camera flash or in the bright light. It will take this first coat forever to dry hard enough to tramp around on, so everything is on hold in there for at least a couple of days I think.

This accurately shows the color of the floor with one coat. I picked out a section with a lot of "character." ;) Too dark for a floor, imo.

The sealer seemed to bring out a dirty grey look in the lighter areas. I guess I should have taken off more. Maybe next time. Ha!

When you look at the screen on the phone camera, just before you snap the shot, it's like the little pixels are dancing and twinkling, and whenever that happens, the picture comes out blurry.

I'll have to get a new smart phone soon. Maybe the camera will be better.

    Looks great to me!

If you are not happy with it try a low watt bulb in the light fixture.

Keep us posted on your search for the perfect phone, I'm getting ready to take the plunge but it is very confusing to me.

Life was so much easier when I only had one choice!

Bea, my requirement for a phone is simple. It has to fit in a front pants pocket so you can still sit down and bend over, and it won't fall out. Right now I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, 2.5" x 5" x 3/8" with a cover. It can't be much bigger than that. The charger port on mine is going bad.

Will look for one that just lays in there. Previously had a chunk of indoor/outdoor carpet.

A new experiment for me. Rotisserie chicken, for $6, from the deli at the grocery store. A pack of Oscar Meyer hot dogs costs nearly $4, and 100% meat cat food costs $1 a can. How could you go wrong.

They came in their own carrying cases, all stacked up, sort of like going to the pet store, and they call your name as you walk by.

Seriously though, the legs and thighs were pretty good. I don't like white meat of a chicken (or turkey), but this was nuked in such a way that it wasn't that dry, and makes a good sandwich (with Miracle Whip ;)) I wonder how they did that. The cat loves it.

Best part, it has provided 3 days of entertainment, trying to get the meat separated from the bone.

Definitely a great fast food meal.

In this area, they are $4.99.

I laugh at my niece because she buys them to make "homemade" chicken soup. She removes the meat from the bones and adds it to a pot of canned chicken stock along with a bag of frozen vegetables and a handful of noodles.

Fast? .. That depends on your perspective. My "carving" sure wasn't fast. And the chicken wasn't fast enough. :D

Thanks, Bea. He makes it look so easy. I guess you got to jump in with both hands and get your fingers messy. Learned something new. Those two little things on the back are called "oysters," and someone else thinks they are the best part. :D
