We have to remember that every January is a NEW January, in a different World! Some people are bored 12 months of the year! I think every Month is a good one. It's the DAYs that are Bi-polar!:confused:o_O:(:)

I like January, starting with the first Monday after the 1st of January. Everything is back to normal. I like normal. It's like a new beginning.

January, the first month of the year

It is my daughter's birth month

And in January each year I repeat

And silently request what has become

And hoped for, my three favorite words

    Long term remission.

You won't know until you spend at least one winter here, @Chrissy Cross. Some people can take the cold and dark, and many cannot. Even the summers are fraught with problems; we have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) in the autumn, winter and spring, and HASLE syndrome (High Activity Stress Leading to Exhaustion) in the summer. Oddly, most of our suicides are in March when the days are getting longer, but I am usually the most "down" in November when night is creeping in.

Come on up and visit in the winter if you feel courageous and get a taste. Watch the Aurora....

@Joe Riley - well Joe, I can always rely on you for a good laugh any month of the year and I thank you for it
Living in the apartment surrounded by 'aliens' of a different kind - I need those laughs so I 'thank you' :)

@Bill Boggs - You deserve a truly good year Bill, here's to that wish granted :)

Very true. There are those that move from inland So California to Colorado and end up moving back to So California in the middle of the winter or right after their first winter there. A couple from Palm Springs did just that. Half way thru their first winter in Centennial, Colorado, they decided "no way", packed up their stuff and moved back.

We really don't know how we will handle our first winter living back in Colorado, but will try. We know it will be cold-to-freezing and snow, but that's winter in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain and High Plains States.

January is a good month here in Central Florida. It used to be dead time for tourists, so we'd have the attractions to ourselves. But now, it's tourist season year round. Just a little slower in January, thank goodness.

Thank you, Patsy. I am invigorated and just know the coming year will be all I've hoped for. Hope yours is, too.

I think I'd have no problem with the cold and the dark but I would feel isolated...away from family and I'm used to being very near all the stores, restaurants, drs, hospitals etc that I have here.

@Chrissy Cross we have lots of stores and restaurants here if you stay in Anchorage. There are several hospitals there as well, but they are probably not up to the standards you are used to if you need special procedures done. The hospitals seem to do okay with regular medical care. I had my back surgery done at one in Anchorage and seemed to come out okay. There are fine hospitals in Seattle and that is a 3 1/2-hour plane ride from Anchorage. Like I said, you should take a trip up and look around. Anchorage reminds me a lot of Minneapolis if you have ever been there, but with real mountains and ocean nearby.
