We do get occasional Hurricanes in the UK babs... although this Storm Erik isn't classed as one, but it's causing structural damage already.. and trees are expected to be uprooted in many places, as well as floods in the coastal areas This in Chelsea, London this morning...
I had no idea y'all had to deal with this kind of weather too Holly....and hope you don't sustain any damage or flooding. And I hope no one is injured or dies because of this storm.
Yes a bit of a shock to the system @Holly Saunders and this morning it's a particularly miserable windy wet one, the fringes of storm Eric you mentioned I guess, but in a way it's easier to keep warm and cosy here than cool in the heat of Thailand. I didn't find anything to be wary of tbh Holly, all the people we met were kind and helpful, the food great and cheap only a couple of £s or so a meal, driving was very easy I drove some 3,000 Kms and really loved it, (petrol 50p a litre) coming back to UK to our overloaded roads and political wasteland was another shock. Thankfully I am only here till next Tuesday then off to Russia until April, escaping from Brexit and all that goes with it at the same time
Yes I had thought that Holly, I may become an exile, but for the fact my family is here I see no other real reason to come back
I wouldn't blame you either, the weather is better there as well, the UK has somehow become a sad, divided, overcrowded and unwelcoming country, though of course the majority of people are doing their best I guess.
As you know I lived there for many years.. but it was a lot of commuting , so eventually it became too much!! Daughter is there but trying to sell now, she wants to leave Spain but she doesn't want to return to the UK because of all the reasons you stated..
I know your daughter had some hard times in Spain, but realistically where could she move to, presumably needing work or a business? ....... I wish her well.
That's a good idea Holly, several of my nephews moved there and Tasmania and are doing very well, my brother-in-law spends winters with his sons now. It's never a country I have been drawn to, but I know it appeals to a lot of younger people. Have you or your daughter ever been there?
yes my daughter' been there a couple of times. She has a sponsor all lined up for when and if she makes the move..
Some pictures so far from today's storm from around the UK....one person reported dead so far... R.I.P
