They need the most easily influenced to vote.

I really don't think voters are mature enough these days to vote intelligently until age 35.

16 is too young, IMO. 18 is better.

    Interesting.

The 16 year olds were given the right to vote in the Scottish Referendum.

Only because they are still children and had no idea about history and I think the powers that be included to get the result they wanted

    And they still lost.

    Another interesting point.

Got a good Scottish friend who lives in London... HE Was not allowed to vote.

I believe it was around 1968 (Vietnam war era) when the age for voting in a federal election went from 21 to 18. The overwhelming reason was that if a person was old enough to able to be drafted and/or enlisted to serve for our country then folks at that age should also have the ability to vote.
My thoughts on the subject at the time, even though I was 18, was that they should leave it at 21 with the exception of those who were serving.

At 16 years old, the major driving factor for them is located just below the belly button and for most of them, that's about all they are good at thinking about for several years after 16.

    @Ken Anderson
Well, hell, then let's let any person of any age capable of scratching with a probe vote. Why not? Might results be much different than those historically?

Even non-humans could vote! Animals then would be amenable to training allowing the cat, for example, to pull it's claw across the RIGHT CHOICE for President!

The age of adulthood should be 21..for everything..voting, military, drinking, smoking,marrying- maybe even driving in some cases.
Twenty one might not be the perfect age ...but to me better than
    different ages for different things.
In reality 30 might be better.

Can’t have an animal because then people would blame the animal for a bad choice and the ASPCA would have to step in when someone calls for euthanizing the animal.
Drawing straws and allowing fate to take it’s course would undoubtedly be a good choice also. At least, better than allowing a child to vote. That way, people could blame God, the fates or Lady Luck on whoever won the presidency.

I wholeheartedly agree with that, Gloria!
30 makes more sense, because a 30 year old HAS more sense!

Then in the case of Cortez, she would have to wait for another year just to run for office which to me, would have been just fine.
