I have noticed that too, @Shirley Martin. I have watched his actual addresses/speeches, then watched the followup and the news coverage. What a difference! I have noted that some with other political figures as well, but never on a national scale with such biased coverage as with Trump. That, I guess, is why he uses Twitter so much. He cannot get his messages out by normal means. Reagan used direct addresses from the Oval Office, as he had something of the same problem, but the networks at that time were will to provide the time for the speeches. Now they can't interrupt American Ninja Warrior or Survivor long enough to serve the nation.

Exactly. I can see it, though. Someone who only watched CNN, NBC, ABC, or MSNBC, and read the Washington Post or the New York Times, would have a warped idea of what's going on.

I, and a growing millions of others find the exact opposite of what you say to be the case. Not that numbers are the key, the majority can always be wrong, as history has shown. I find it frightening that you are fooled by Trump, but, as Lincoln said: "You can fool some of the people some of the time; some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

This time period will be studied for years in the future, I'm sure. I must say, I like you folks a lot. Being here is proof there is not one issue that should fully separate us from knowing each other. At the core, we are more alike than we are different.

Ronald Reagan's name should never be compared with the other guy. No comparison. President Reagan, even though I did not agree with his policies, was president to all Americans, and never dissed or insulted people.

I agree completely and really appreciate the Presidents persistence. When around 40 thousand people flood our border illegally it is crisis. To give them a court date which they never ever appear at is not ok it needs to stop. We do not know who they are or their health conditions or anything else. Don't know how any rational person can think its ok.

Something is very wrong here. Don't believe you ever a Democrat. No one swings so completely just because they didn't like the nominee in 2016. What else of your beliefs have so radically changed in 2 years? Highly improbable. Something is very wrong here.

"As an ex-Democrat I can say I feel they are desperate now for votes since so many like myself Dem-exited right after the 2016 convention when they rigged the primaries for Hillary.

The local (Houston TX) CBS affiliate had a poll this afternoon, asking whether closing the border is a good or bad idea. Surprisingly, the results were 79% "Good Idea." Surprising because as of late, Houston has become more heavily hispanic and more liberal.

I lived in the Rio Grande Valley, which is more than 80% Hispanic, and where Republicans don't even bother to run for most local offices. I am still in touch with a lot of people I knew there, and most of them are in favor of closing or strongly controlling the border. I am not saying that most people in the Valley are in favor of such, as I have no idea what everyone thinks about it. My friends are mostly in EMS, FD or PD, but when I worked in a paper bag plant in Brownsville, employees were not in favor of open borders because it was their jobs that were at risk. I won't argue that the majority of Hispanics are in favor of tight border control, but I do think there are more Hispanics on the side of border control than we're usually led to believe.

The border was closed after 9-11 and nothing crashed. Mexico will bear the brunt of it, as we import much more from them than they do from us, and the agricultural products that are ready to be shipped will rot at the border waiting to cross. The rotting food is the only thing bad I remember from the 2001 closure.

What party a person belongs to is not the issue.. the issue, for me is allowing illegal crossing of the border. This whole thing is like the drug issue and on going, never ending problem. Build the damn Wall, or close the Border until further notice.

I think most reasonable people would agree, Gloria. Unfortunately the Democrats have "TDS*" and will oppose anything Trump wants to do whether it makes sense or not. I am neither Democrat nor Republican but I want the wall built and I have no problem with doing without avocados for a while if he closes the border.

    * TDS = Trump Derangement Syndrome (caused by the election of Donald Trump to the Presidency of the United States. Sufferers display an inordinate loathing for and preoccupation with Donald Trump.)
