I don't want to get involved in this really, because I really know very little about the US political scene but I like to read what everyone's thoughts are on American politics, because ultimately it affects us all in one way or another... I just wanted to reply to you @Joy Martin ...there's a glaring difference between a wall that was built by communists to divide one country.. because of a war... to a president trying to defend his own country from illegal immigrants , marauders, criminals and drug barons from a neighbouring country!! Not that I'm inferring every Mexican is a criminal, but from what I can see President Trump is trying his best to keep America safe from the literal thousands of illegals who cause major problems for the USA, and he shouldn't be lambasted for it , instead any criticism should be laid at the door of the Corrupt Mexican government who are totally inept at ensuring that their people have jobs and a decent living , and should be cracking down hard on criminals...and yes your country was built on the backs of millions without the need for a wall...but they weren't drug addicted criminals.... anyway that's my view, I neither dislike or like president Trump...but I do think the man is trying in the only way he knows how to make America a better and safer place for Americans !!
There is so much history in America and who came from all over the world to make it it's greatness. But I must say, in my older years, I feel a lot of disappointment. Let's divide everyone, only whites allowed. That's the motto I come away with from so many. I'm not a history buff but have read enough about how California was Northern Mexico before the war that divided it. The Mexicans were here long before the gringos like me. My grandparents came into the U.S. via Ellis Island and worked hard to build what they did. And to be honest I don't know if they were ever made U.S. citizens or not, this was never talked about. They were hard working people who paid their ways and built a life and family.
@Beth Gallagher You are forgiven, if that's an appropriate way to say it; Bill Clinton was (is) possessed of an uncanny skill for winning folks over.......after all the, well, let's say "excesses" revealed following his leaving office, he is still "deified", almost, and commands income of ~ $20 million yearly from speaking........folks actually pay to hear him speak! Frank
Frank: Wonder how many speaking engagements DJT will have when he's gone from office? I've always liked the Clintons and they are smart and human...not perfect. Politics are pretty dirty.
@Joy Martin So true. So smart as to have evaded "the round-up".........Local law enforcement officials in and about Mena, Arkansas, attested to belief that ~ $150 million in hard drugs were being night-dropped on the Whitewater Properties a month during Clinton's tenure as Governor. Indeed, two teen-aged boys saw a plane doing so, before they both died while "asleep" on a railroad track. Media "bought" this, as did America in general. The mother of one had him exhumed, did a private autopsy, which contradicted seriously the "official" one: "blunt trauma to the skull, commensurate with striking by a solid object, but not by exposure to a railroad run-over". I greatly dislike bringing these events to light, again, but at the same time feel that others who failed back then to become aware of them, really ought to know. Frank
You have no idea how nearly irrelevant the NRA is to most people who own guns. You just repeat your mantras. Most people I know lost interest in the NRA when they indicated a willingness to abridge some people's right to own guns.
In my life I don't know any who own or into guns. My sil had a gun collection at his home and when his children were born and the parents were having issues, CPS were involved and his guns were removed from the home. Too many horrible accidents/deaths due to the "loose guns". And I believe the NRA are relevant but we also have a major ammunitions industry in our country, and that's $$$$. Enough said from this mother and grandmother. And not a hunter. And a huge Pacifist.
Not sure what happened, @Holly Saunders . Somehow we jumped topics, from talking about our president to discussion about NRA and gun control, which is a totally different thread here.
I know I posted about the school shooting Again in CO and got into the NRA place in the gun world and somehow things got into the Trump thread....I know Trump is 1000% behind the NRA, he needs/wants their votes.
Yes, and the Democrats want 16 year olds and ILLEGAL ALIENS to vote, so that makes much more sense I suppose? Let's get back on track with this thread, please.
