Does anyone have a voice remote control where your voice chooses the channel you want rather than clicking as with the regular remote control. If so how do you like it, say compared to the regular remote control? Thanks .
We have one with our Xfinity Comcast. We use both the buttons and the voice. Sort of weird using the voice, but it works. Sort of like using our Google Home, that we ask questions and have music played on. I can say "ok, Google, good morning" and it will say "good morning, Cody."
Yes, we do have the voice remote for cable. It works well and can be used for other commands such as restarting the cable box, some minor diagnostics, etc. My husband doesn't like it; he says it never understands him.
Thanks, Beth. That is one of my worries, can it understand my roommate who has an impediment. And no remote, I fear, can understand me.
Thanks, guys and gals. I'm going to talk to Cox next week. We like where we are at (ATT/DirectV) but the price is getting pricy and they are dropping programs my wife watches, so I'm looking to make mama happy.Everyone knows how that is. Thanks.
It is good to see you back again , @Bill Boggs , and sounding like you are over that cold and feeling chipper again.......... welcome back, Friend !
When I use the Amazon Firestick, I can do that. I never do, though. But then, pretty much the only thing I ever say to Siri is, "Shut up, Siri."
I don't have a voice control smart gadgets for our home. I did find out recently that my android that I have going on two years let's me take pictures with my voice. It's a pain to get the right pitch/tone to make it work though. I did consider them once then I thought about Johnny holding the remote flipping channels instead I would be hearing him get all frustrated because the device wouldn't understand his Arkansas accent .
I barely want to talk to anyone on the phone, much less speak into something that doesn't speak back. I don't even use the voice option on my phone.
I switched from ATT to DISH because of price. I was pleasantly surprised that DISH's remote has a mic on it. My dad forgets channels or gets confused, and now he can hold the microphone button and say what channel number or the name of a show or channel. I use Alexa (similar to Cody's Google Home) throughout the house as an intercom so if my dad falls or something and cannot get to his phone, he just has to tell Alexa to call Rene or get Rene. Plus it plays music I want to hear from my library, records my grocery list to my iPhone, turn off lamps (you have to get plugs for them)...stuff like that. You can program it to run the iRobot too. If DISH and Alexa can understand my extremely heavy southern accent, I think it could handle yours.
