Pit : My knee hurts like Billy-O.... Peak - My daughters new van engine has finally arrived at the workshop and is being fitted... at last ...and the scatter rug I ordered from wayfair for my bedroom , which went missing in transit last week, has finally got here..
Peak :...It's been a glorious sunny warm day today, although around mid-day it got a little bit of fluffy cloud but it burnt off quite quickly. Took photos of the car my o/h is about to put up for sale... The we went to the farm nearby to get some organic meat from the farm butcher,...then for a drink at the village pub where there was a group of children singing as a Rock choir on the terrace... Then home...more gardening...it's never ending ... but we got a lot of the laurel trees cut down they had grown to about 16 feet high, so that was topped off... and the hedges were trimmed back, and lawns cut... here's some pics from today.... say hello to my neighbours..... ...and below is the young people's rock choir at the village pub.....
So, you live around dairy cows? That's really cool. Don't know how dairy's run in the UK, but the ones here in the U.S. are all electronic. Automation does all of the work humans use to do.
Yes we have dairy cattle, and beef cattle as well as sheep ...LOTS of sheep... we're surrounded by farmland..... ..and yes most Dairy cattle are milked by machine , but they're all grass fed....
Wanna see my Red Robin Forsythia shrub anyone?...we planted it for about 5 years ago or maybe more, and this year it's the first time it's flowered ...also my elderflower trees which flower every year.... we've got white, lavender, and purple in different areas of the garden
Beautiful plants, Holly. The first one looks like what we call Red Tip Photinias here. Except only some of mine seem to get the white flowers. I've wondered if there are male and female plants. Can't find any information about it, so I guess not. Do all of yours eventually get the white flowers?
Do you mean all of the Red robins' , Nancy?...I don't know because this is the first year it's flowered The elderberry trees all get white flowers, but not all of them get Lavender or purple.... Currently I have 2 with white, and one each with lavender and purple... Here one of the white where we have the bird feeding station... ..and also our Choisya has been flowering for the last couple of weeks.. but it's in the corner of the garden at the far end next to the Laurels and ferns so it doesn't get a lot of light, and I have a second one under the holly tree which grows side by side with the Bay tree...
Update on my daughter.. another rib has cracked, so she going to see her Osteo this afternoon The strapping on her arm has been removed to reveal a whole load of missing & torn skin...*ouch*
Thank you Cody.... they take a lot of maintenance but I have a very sunny South west facing garden, so it's not a chore to be out there working and enjoying it... Incidentally, just to be clear , what you all call a Yard in the USA we call a Garden here.... so I have 2 gardens, one at the front... . A yard here means this type of thing... just so I'm not confusing you all... a Backyard here is usually something that's paved ... like this...
ETA...Daughter has had an Ultrasound this afternoon..diagnosed a broken rib ... not cracked but broken this time. She was in horrendous pain yesterday so I knew something more must have happened... She sent me the Ultrasounds scan. She's got to be taped up for 6 weeks , absolutely no lifting, but gentle stretching & exercise
Oh, that's terrible, Holly. Bless her heart, that has got to be miserable. My best wishes to her, and to her worried mama.
Bless you Beth, thanks so much. She told me that she has to go and collect 5 dogs tomorrow,..that means a very bumpy drive down the mountain, and then back again with the dogs in the car!! I told her NOOOOOOOOOO, this could be very dangerous, the rib could splinter and pierce a lung, but she said she had no choice, she just has to get on with it!!!
