Two things: that fact that I was born where I was born (it could have been even worse, though) and, secondly, that I didn't manage to learn anything proper, i.e. marketable skills that would have helped me to earn a living.

@Thomas Stearn ...Shame on you ! Where you were born- who asked you where to be born? Not your fault.
We all had hopes and dreams of making a better life ..S$#;_(t happens. Instead of regrets, look at how far you have came- what all you have accomplished no matter how small. The lives you touched along the way.
Your a walking miracle Bud and should be proud you have succeded:)

Everyone has regrets. A misspoken word or sentence, a job I didn’t take or one or two that I shouldn’t have taken. Maybe a relationship that I could have saved but didn’t or some piece of education that I didn’t pursue. A war I shouldn’t have volunteered for or maybe a couple of wars I should have volunteered for.
The list of possible regrets can go on and on but the bottom line is that everything I have done thus far whether it be good, bad or indifferent, has led me to this point in life for which I have no regrets.

It sort of goes with “if I could change anything what would I change””? Nothing. For if I could change anything that I had regretted, then this day would not be as it is.

Regret? That I didn't meet my wife years before I did, so I wouldn't have met/married my first wife and wouldn't have had to be single (divorced) for 21 years. Although some marriages are better when done when the couple is 49/50 yrs. old. We know two couples, who married in the late 60's, and both marriages have went south (bad). No abuse, but definitely health problems that the other spouse can't deal with.

Another regret: That I didn't continue on with my college education and get a degree in Business. I wouldn't have had to spend years working in warehousing. Could've got in Purchasing/Inventory Management a whole lot sooner.

Same here, Frank. And I seem to review all my bad decisions when I'm having a sleepless night.

I have a handful of regrets. The problem with regret in your life tapestry,is the bad threads weave around and into the good threads. Ex: If I didn't have those kids who turned into pesky teenagers, I wouldn't have gotten the wonderful grandchildren.

Thomas, you can't regret something that you had no control over, i.e. where you were born. You just can't let the place you were born effect your out look on life - rise above as they say. :)

As for me, my one regret was not finishing college, so that I could have had a better career path. I got lucky, truly, 3 years ago when I applied for and was given a job with my local telephone company. Best job I've ever had! I love being appreciated for the work I do, rather than chastised for my short comings. I guess I also regret allowing my self to gain as much weight as I have, because no one wants to spend time with a fat old lady. It's hard living life alone.

I have found that the bad decisions that we have made, are great learning tools for our next decision

That's true, but it doesn't seem to lessen the amount of regret!! :D

Since the question was phrased as "regret the most" I suppose there has to be an answer. I think I have a habit of putting those kinds of things out of my mind and not dwelling on them, because it was hard to think of something.

I guess it would be one incident, with my parents, where I was ungrateful for something they did for me. And secondarily, the fact that I never apologized for it, because I forgot about it. One case where that habit was not a good thing.

My life is full of regrets.... One major regret is that I can't seem to let them just be in the past..I'm constantly beating myself up about them, regardless as to the reason or the circumstances of the events to which they occurred

It's difficult for me to choose the single regret that I regret most. Plus some personal things I feel are not for the consideration of others. :D

Understandable. That may not always be possible.
I was able to identify them precisely which kind of urged me to write them down.:)
