    @Nancy Hart
    Chamberlin makes (or made) all the Sears Craftsman openers.

    I didn't know that. My family always liked Sears Craftsman stuff too. The Sears Parts Store has lots of parts for everything, but usually they are very expensive.

    Don, in 1983 some friends and I planted 2500 pine trees out at the farm. It was just a vacant piece of land then. Most of them made it, but over the years the beetles and beavers got all but about 30 of them.

    We had a handful of trees left over at the end of the day, and planted two rows right up along the road, just to get rid of them. (What was I thinking? :oops:). Now those are 36 years old and some are very large. Only one died so far. Just noticed another one dying this week. :eek:

    Today I got a better look at it.

    That seam goes all the way up around the tree as far as you can see.

    Could it be from an old lightning strike? It looks similar to a couple of pictures I found on the internet of old strikes that have healed over.

    If it's beetles, I think there is a very short window of opportunity when you can still use the trees for lumber. They are tall enough for the tops to hit the road now. I know the smart thing to do is see if anyone will cut them for the timber, but I can't make myself do it. {sigh}

    Since last time...

    1. Got an old fashioned flip phone to carry around in the woods. The voice sound is so much clearer than the smartphone. It had to have a different number. Found out how to forward the calls from the smartphone, unless/until I change every contact to the new number, which I won't. I'm happy.

    2. Dentist refused to cement the crown back on or make a new one. He is such a wuss. I told him to give it to me and I'll do it. Fixodent is great stuff. It will glue your tongue to the side of your mouth. The tooth already had a root canal. Will think about it when gluing doesn't work anymore.

    3. A possum has been climbing up onto the deck in the back, getting onto the roof overhang for the basement door from there, and leaving deposits. Does he think it's his bathroom? He tips over the hedge cutting pots every night. Last night I left the motion detector light on and he didn't show up. :) Turned it off a couple of years ago because the neighbor complained it was keeping her awake at night. :rolleyes: She moved away. Surprised it still works.

    4. I did NOT make a video of the garage door opening and closing, but there's still time. :D

    May try some fence repair near the house this afternoon/evening, OTOH, the predicted high is 96, so I may mow. Then again, I may do nothing. No red tips to haul out today either. :(

    @Nancy Hart you could try one of the super glues on that crown. I have known people who used it to glue teeth together. It is also used here often to keep cuts together, especially in areas where medical attention isn't available.

    I'm afraid I wouldn't get it in exactly the right place on the first go around. Then what do you do? Other than that I'd try it.

    Whoa, did I miss something? Why would a dentist refuse to replace a crown? I guess he wants to charge for a new one even though the old one could be repaired? Find another dentist. You won't have to worry about a toothache since you had a root canal but you don't want the tooth to decay because of food debris getting into it. Goodness, it's always something!

    Need to mow here but I think I will let the son come over and take care of that..I will just weed eat some areas.

    This dentist is a perfectionist. He says the tooth does not fit the crown perfectly anymore, and there is not enough left of the tooth to make a new crown. He gave me three options: . pull the tooth and just leave an empty space, put in a bridge, or another implant. It's way in the back. No need to pull it unless it starts to cause trouble, imo. I just don't want to think about it right now.

    I did mow out in the country today---riding mower, so no big deal. The (centipede) grass is not growing. It's just weeds spiking up going to seed. Lost a lot of grass in the drought we had 2 or 3 years ago and it hasn't come back, only weeds. :p

    I will try that. The crown will stay in place all by itself, as long as you don't eat anything.

    I have one in an envelope somewhere in the house, and there's another one in my mouth.

    Doing just fine. It looks like I'll have plenty of time to think about it.

    You have to rein this dentist in occasionally. He has this irrational fear that if anything in your mouth isn't tied down permanently you might aspirate it, i.e., breath it in at night. :rolleyes:

    Nice poem. I knew a couple of young girls at work who were obsessed with their teeth. They would floss after lunch and after every snack. I often wondered how it turned out for them. I think some of it has to do with genetics, and whether you grew up on city water.
