This horrific attack is embedded in my mind and heart, has been since the attack and will be till i die. I remember the exact time is was telecasted, what i was doing, where i was, don't know if i have ever been so unsettled, confused or scared. I have revisited 9/11 yearly, everything i can gather through the internet, i start about this time, refresh, relive, and reflect. I melt down every year, for the innocent, for the strong and for the survivors, and for the heroic emergency response people and canines. I came to the fact that i need to do this yearly, will never forget. Does anyone share this as well.

Absolutely. I am a New Yorker. Many friends who worked or went to school in the area were crushingly on my mind that day until I was able to contact them. I was fortunate I did not know any of the dead, but do know DOZENS of people who lost loved ones that day. I also will never forget what I was doing at the moment of first impact (like most people our age remember precisely their actions when they heard of President Kennedy's assassination).

I was living in Massachusetts, outside Boston. I had the 'Today' show on, no sound; was listening to Howard Stern on radio. He announced a plane crashing into the first building, and at the same moment I turned my head to the TV and there it was in living color.

I'll never forget the silence that followed the grounding of all aircraft. Never realized before how much noise that was, even when I couldn't see a plane. Of course, I was 20 miles north of Logan Airport.

Always loved those Twin Towers. I wish they were rebuilt exactly, instead of its measly replacement.

Micki, you're a Canadian and you feel so deeply for this event. Thank you.

Oh yes I remember very well. We were driving through a deep rural country road in Bedfordshire , and the news came on the radio. we just caught the end of the report about an air crash didn't catch where it was, and a couple of minutes later my daughter ran to tell us what had happened. Of course her knowledge at that time was just that a plane had crashed into one tower. Little did any of us realise the horror we were about to discover when we finally got home and saw the full extent of the news report!!
What's incredible is that it seems so recent, yet it was 18 years ago!!!

I worked on a Navy base. After the second tower was hit, the red alert was set and people were being called to their various posts / ships. I was at a larger intersection being called into work even on my day off, when it was announced on special alert on the radio that the Pentagon had been hit. For a whole red light count, all the cars just sat in the intersection dumbfounded. I'm not sure anyone was aware of anyone else at that moment. It felt like a bad movie.

Now, when younger people don't know or older people seem to forget that day, it really annoys me.

Same here. My wife, I and my son were just about to turn in for the nite when the first plane hit the tower. We remained transfixed to the screen for hours as we watched the second plane hit, then the ensuing fires and finally the collapse of both buildings. We were saddened by the local interviews and news that emergency service personnel were among the 3000 victims. I was rather proud that the massive shopping complex in the new spectacular One World Tower that now stands on the site of the former World Trade site is named after and owned by Australia's own Westfield Corporation.

Will never get tired of hearing, and remembering, 9/11. We need to keep this alive for respect, and for those that were too young to remember, they need to know even if it's through others eyes and memory. Thank you to our HEROS. Thank you all for sharing.

I was in bed. Our neighbor wakened us at 0610 with the news as we are 4 hours behind New York.

I was in my office at work. Some coworkers came running down the hallway, yelling for everyone to come to the conference room where there were TVs. We all watched the second plane in horror. I'll never forget that day as it unfolded and how it stunned America.

My 9/11 still in motion. still revisiting that horrific day, like i said before that i do without fail every year for a few weeks before that day. Every year i seem to see something i missed the prior year, i'm thinking that it's so much damage and hurt, that we maybe can't absorb it all at once, for me, i think that's the case. Lots of meltdowns, for the victims and the survivors. At the end of that day's anniversary, a " Farewell Prayer and Thank You " to all.

I was living in Hungary when it happened.....everybody in my family in the US was calling to tell me but I already knew since I just happened to be watching CNN international at the time.

Of course i think it was the evening news because of the time difference between NYC and Budapest Hungary.

    I think it’s 6 hrs...I know it’s 9 with California.

What I do remember at that time was all the support from all the Hungarians that knew I was an American....

I was at work not far from where we lived. The radio was on and local will known DJ came on and his voice sounded odd. He said there were reports that a plane had hit a tower there. After that everything was chaotic. I went home at lunch time and watched it all on tv. For weeks that is all that seemed to be on the tv and everyone watched it all day and night without complaint. Much crying also. Just reading this post from Micki teared me up.
