Almost every electronic thing we buy today we buy the Extended Warranty/Service Plan for it. Sometimes we will buy the entire amount of years offered.

We will be buying my wife and new Del Inspiration laptop for this Christmas. Right now, the one she wants is around $1,500, but have to add on the cost of the Excel/Word download and the Service Plan. By Black Friday, that cost should come down and we will get it.

The old Toshiba laptop we currently have is some 10 years old, still running Windows 7 and is extremely slow. I'm always hearing her complain about it's speed or something else about it. Windows 10 did show up, for a free download, sometime back. I did download it, but, at the time, didn't like it, so deleted the Windows 10 and done a "recovery" of Windows 7. Now I absolutely love Windows 10, that came with our Dell Desktop, and wish I hadn't deleted it on the laptop. But, Windows 10 will be on her new one.

When I had the Dell, I almost bought Windows Office but then I found a free Excel (Excel together) which keeps my information in the cloud. There’s also a whole array of Google office material that you can use which also keeps your information handy.

Now, even though I do not have Windows, I still use the on line windows Excel and Google Docs. (Word) for free.

There is a bare-bones word processor that is built into Win10; it's called "WordPad." Not a lot of advanced formatting options but it works great for what it is...and it's free.

Why I stay with a cheap chromebook laptop. If it fizzles out, for under $200, I can go to Walmart and pick up another one. Absolutely no stress involved. Beauty of it is, never had a bit of trouble with it.

I have no need or interest in any Office programs. I have no use for Power Point, Word, or any of those other boring, memory-wasting programs.

I'm not into Gaming either. I only use my computer for Surfing the Web, E-mail, and enjoying old Music, Comedy, and Historical Videos on YouTube.

Computing? I don't use a computer for actual computing, and very few people do!

I use mine for Information Gathering and Entertainment.

    For computing, I use a Texas Instruments Pocket Calculator...now THAT'S a Computer!

Actually, plenty of people use a computer for all types of computing. Since you don't, why on earth buy a computer? Just get a chromebook and get on with your life.

As is your usual MO, you ask for advice then get snarky with those of us who try to give it.

    Yup, I’m done. Never again.
I thought I was going to have a small bit of fun with it this time but it turns out the same way as it did when I was fully serious.

I use Excel to do my spreadsheets for our Durango and boat/trailer. I have all invoices for both and a monthly-yearly spreadsheet showing repairs/maintenance done to all. When we sold our 1997 Dodge RAM 1500 in Florida, I gave the buyer folders of information dealing with repairs/maintenance we had done on the truck, from the time we bought the truck while living in Colorado.

I don't use Word much, except to copy/paste something from the internet. Sometimes a website won't let a person do a "copy/print" from the website, so I do a copy/paste to word, then print it out.

There are those that will pay out big bucks for a new desktop, screen and even printer, then use the entire outfit very little. My brother hates computers and doesn't like his wife being on a new one that she has. My wife brother has had a hard time finding another job due to very little computer experience and doing the "hunt and peck" thing on the keyboard.

I got the HP All-in-One, with stupid Touch Screen and Wireless Printer and Keyboard/Mouse connections, (none of which I'll use), plus a 1-year Total Tech Support Plan.

I do like the combined CPU and Monitor all in one housing, plus the Solid State Hard Drive.

AND...it has the WINDOWS TEN OS!
    Yup Yup Yup...
