First, within a week we changed the registration on our vehicle to get the Florida license plate off and Colorado on. Legally, we had 90 days to do that, but wanted to get it done way before then. For new-to-newer vehicles, registering a vehicle in a new state can be pretty expensive, so we were happy that our registration cost less than $100.

Legally, we had 30 days to get a Colorado Drivers License and did get it the fourth week we were here. When we told the clerk at the DL office that we had already registered our vehicle here, she said "good". Many folks moving here don't do it that quickly.

Unfortunately, my wife has been having an extremely hard time finding a job, even a part-time one. Within a month and a half, she has only had one interview (in person with an Agency Recruiter) and no phone interviews at all. She is getting unemployment, so that's good.

One thing we have found out pretty quickly, the Baby Boomers and earlier Seniors here sure don't like what has happened to this area. We have talked to some. Many were here when the population was only 15,000, but now is 78,000. The west end of Loveland, where we live, is still not developed that much, but the east end sure has. There have been Seniors that have told us, "we never go to the big shopping and restaurant areas on the east end. Those areas are for the kids."
Very few Seniors live in the complex we do. It appears that it is made up of mostly 20 and 30 year old folks. Loveland, itself, has a much higher population of Seniors than Jacksonville did, but they don't like getting out much. The main population here has become, and continues to be, young folks in their 20s and 30's. It appears to me that THEY would love to see all of the Seniors move out and THEY take over the entire city.

Anyway, as already stated, when our "boating days" end next summer, we will again pack up and head for Wyoming (most likely). We only moved to Loveland because of the lakes here for boating/fishing. It's not nearly "Western" enough for us.

On thing is FOR SURE, we like it here much better than we did in Jacksonville. We have our winter clothes ready when Old Man Winter decides to get here.

What begins? Just telling how we are doing and what we've been told.

Seems that you are never satisfied with your location or the rest of the population where you live. So you moved all that way and still unhappy.

Are you looking for a job, too?

Well, I must say you two have planned ahead. Wyoming is a lot closer to Colorado too so it wouldn't be so taxing as the move from Jacksonville, Florida.

Thanks for the update Cody.. however I'm kinda wondering why , after you'd carried out all your research for the last couple of years that you didn't pick up on the fact that the median population of Loveland were so young...or that it wasn't the cowboy state you were looking for. !!

Also I don't know how it works in the USA, but here in the Uk no-one gets paid unemployment benefit if they're past retirement age.. . I presume that must be different in the US, given your wife is receiving it...

Well, we found out we couldn't have both...…..a cowboy area and boating lakes. So, since we still have the boat, we chose Loveland. The closest boating lake to Cheyenne is near Laramie and that lake isn't nearly as close to us as three lakes here in Loveland are. We only spent a week here last year (2018), which really isn't enough time to know very much about the area.

And, btw, Colorado is, in some areas, a "cowboy state", but not nearly as much as we want here.

We aren't unhappy, Beth. And, just like I told Holly, we were only here for a week last year. That not much time to find out much. But, in the long run, HERE is much, much better than where we use to live.

And, btw, Beth, don't you know that Seniors ALWAYS have the right to be unhappy in some kind of way/ways.

As for as me looking for a job, we only have one vehicle and wife and I already knew that I was going to continue staying at home and doing the same things I did before...…..laundry, cleaning, etc.

@Beth Gallagher, you think we are unhappy, which we really aren't, you should hear the older Seniors here talk about the area. They have seen it drastically change and don't like the change at all.

Well I hope you get settled in and can be satisfied with your new home. Sometimes change can be good.

Sounds ideal. You can boat around Loveland and make day trips or weekend trips
out to what else is happening in the great state of Colorado. Take a long weekend
and visit some of the great rodeos further out in cow country and up in Wyoming.
You're close enough to everywhere you want to be. Sounds like you've pcked a winner.

Well, Beth, our apartment now is quite a bit smaller than the one we had in Florida. With the one in Florida, we had a screened-in back patio and a front area for sitting w/a storage room. Here we have a front patio, but not screened-in, and a storage room.

We know we will only be in the apartment, and city, for a year or so, before making our last move. At least our next move will be under 50 miles away.

One thing to remember, Bill...….we lived here for 5 1/2 years before. We done a lot here during the years. Went to a number of rodeos in both Colorado and Wyoming when we lived here before. Also went to Fairs, parades, into the Rocky Mountains and to a couple of lakes that were near us in Parker.
However, we have to watch how much traveling we do. Our vehicle has 164,000 miles on it and can't afford to buy a newer one.

Well, what you could do Cody is to wear your boots, chaps, cowboy hat and............have the best of both worlds.
