Agree. I'll only give up stairs when I absolutely have to. My grandmother maintained a two story house, plus basement and full walk-in attic, until she was 92, and it wasn't the stairs that made her finally move.

Our house has all bedrooms (and full baths) upstairs, so I do a lot of climbing in the course of a day. Also the laundry room is downstairs, so all my "chores" require a lot of legwork. :D I hope I can be like your grandma!! My husband and I make fun of the Acorn Stairlift commercials but someday that might be our reality...eek.

Oh my goodness, I bet I go up and down our stairs atleast twenty times also. I need to keep a ledger. Makes for good calf muscles in the legs! When Mike was going through therapy I had to learn to walk down the stairs backwards to keep him from falling.

    @Pam Sellers:

Did you ever go to a night football game at Sanford Stadium? It's like looking at another world in there.

I went to one last year. Just so much energy! Son and grandson were there last night. Took them 45 min. to just get out of the parking deck.! They got home at 4:00 this morning! A very long day of tailgating and then watching the game. But they had fun and it was worth the win!

Well looks like we had two days of Fall weather and now back to Summer mode again. Give me a break...I am sick of this heat and no rain!

They redid the curbs last week. This time they painted a 30 foot strip, up from 10 feet previously.

Update on the red tip (tree) clearing project

I try not to start a project if there is any chance I can't finish it by myself. It would be embarrassing to get stuck part way through in some awkward predicament, and have to call someone to finish it. Sometimes a step or two is doubtful, but I go ahead anyway. So far so good.

I knew the hardest part of this would be taking down the largest tree, tangled in vines at the top, no way to keep it from falling across the fence, and therefore put off until last. Got it all cleared up the day after the football game, so it's all downhill now, I think.

One reason this was such good leg exercise is because the property line runs along the top of a pile of large rocks collected up over decades by the previous owner. They form a bank about 4 feet high. Not only do you stumble over loose rocks, and trip on vines, anywhere near them, there are also beer bottles, other trash people threw out when there was no fence, and even a section of old barbed wire fence.

The ivy and kudzu have now been sprayed, but that will be a never ending battle, so the plan is to clean up that gap between the property line and the fence so it's easy walking, and make a path to get down over the bank.

I think it looks better already without any hedge in the back, even staring at a parking lot. Much better than staring at the back of someone else's house, imo. The openness makes the lot seem larger. So the 15 hedge cuttings I started will be used at other places.

There are 6 big stumps left to cut off at ground level. That is such hard wood. Still haven't got the saw chain sharpened. I may stop by Tractor Supply today and just buy a new one. Tried, but never could, sharpen a chain successfully.

Right now I have one truck load of tree bottoms ready to dump this afternoon. I think it will take two more loads, because the rest are odd shaped and larger. Some will have to be cut in half because they are too heavy to lift. (The camera angle makes the truck bed look short. It's a full 6 feet. )

Nancy, my neighbor started cutting down the dead red tips on the property line this weekend. They are not as large as yours! Are you finished?

Mike and I went and got our flu shots yesterday at Publix. We each got a $10.00 gift card to Publix for getting the shot. Win, Win!

All the junk from the red tips has been hauled off, except two logs which are too heavy to lift. Just bought a new chain for the saw. Best I can recall they are about 30 years old, and a few were only 8 inches in diameter at the base. The wood is so hard I think you could use them for fence posts. :(

Good deal! There is a Publix here.

By the way, if it would be more convenient, you are welcome to park in my driveway for home football games. It's about a 15 minute walk to the stadium. Just a thought.

South Carolina is a big game this Saturday. Lots of SC fans will be in town. :p

How do you like the change in weather?

How sweet for you to offer. They buy their parking pass for the season. Also, they tailgate with a tent and all that other stuff. Don't think you would want all that mess in your driveway!

They could set up the tent in the back yard, but it wouldn't be very exciting back there. You should come too. We might think of something creative to do.

Here is a question, you might know the answer: Are you allowed to drive a car up close to the stadium just before a game? You used to be able, but I doubt it now. Neighbors used to drop visitors off at the stadium as soon as everyone got inside.

The doorbell rang a couple of hours ago. It was some boys asking if they could park on the yellow line out front. He wanted to pay me. I kept telling him I don't care, but it's not up to me, and I don't know what the cops do on game days. Probably nothing, unless someone complains. He eventually decided against it I guess.

Fall came through at midnight last Friday and by morning it was early winter. Now it's back to more normal. In the morning it's chilly and by afternoon it's warm, and you have to change clothes. And turn off the heat and switch to AC.
