@Holly Saunders I am in no pain at all and have had none before, during, or after surgery. I do get tired though but it's only been 9 days since my surgery and that is perfectly normal. My husband has been incredible throughout this journey. When I got home from the Hospital the day after surgery I looked at my scar and then showed my Honey....he smiled and so did I. It is a relief to have that cancer filled breast off my chest! :)

We never know what we can do @Gloria Mitchell...until we are faced with a problem we have to make a decision on. I am growing through this, not only in my faith and trust in my heavenly Father...but as a woman too.

@Babs Hunt I can't imagine what you went through when the worst nightmare of a cancer detection. I'm so happy that you have the love of your life by your side and so with many friends and loved ones. Am glad the surgery part is past, as i'm sure you are too. Your task now is to recover, and to look forward to all the things and enjoyments that you so much deserve. There is a saying that was taught to me at a very early age...." God will never present you with more than you can handle " You are strong, keep building your strength. You look like you came through with flying colours. Keep taking care. Going back over my thread I found in updating y'all I left out a big part before having the surgery. One of my last posts before updating everyone mentioned that I was going to see my Heart Doctor...which I did. To clear me for surgery I had a Cardiac PET scan and Nuclear Stress test. I passed both with flying colors! :) They called and said my heart was perfectly normal. So back to my Breast Surgeon to reschedule surgery...and to make some changes.

I truly believe God stopped my surgery the first time. And I now know why He did it. I had no real peace about the extent of the first surgery. Both breasts were going to be removed, and almost all of my lymph nodes located near my underarm. Our bodies need our lymph nodes, they filter out virus', bacteria, and cancer cells. Once you take them out they are gone forever and cannot be reproduced. And people who have breast cancer who have them removed end up with Lymphedema which is a horrible thing to deal with. You might as well just remove your arm along with those breasts because if you take out those lymph nodes...your arm will end up being as big a burden as the cancer. Since it was the lymph nodes in my right arm that were going to be removed and my right arm is the one I use the most....this just was not going to work for me. But I felt so much pressure to do what "everyone" else wanted me to do that if God wouldn't have stopped that surgery...and given me time to hear what He wanted me to do...well let's just say my surgery outcome would be a whole different story.

From the beginning of my diagnosis I felt peace about just having the breast with cancer removed and no lymph nodes taken out...even though some of those nodes did have some cancer cells in them. I felt God was telling me He would take care of that part of the problem if I just took off the breast with cancer in it. And I was at total peace until my Doctors and my daughters started "pressuring" me to "get with the system". Sometimes the "World" can shout at us so loud...we can't hear that quiet voice of our heavenly Father leading us along the path He wants us to take. I am so thankful that He loves us enough to "stop everything" long enough for us to hear Him instead of the World. When He stopped my surgery He gave me enough time to not only hear what He wanted me to do but also to regain my peace and courage to stand firm in following what He wanted me to do. And I did stand firm...so firm that my Breast Surgeon told me she could not do the surgery my way because she wouldn't be doing everything she knew how to do to save my life. I told her she wasn't in charge of saving my life...God was...and although God might let her play a part in my life story...God was the one who was in control of it and my living or dying. I looked at her woman to woman and I told her: "Rhetha I need you to take off this breast with all the cancer trash in it...I don't want to live with it on my chest anymore!" And as a woman...not just my surgeon...she understood and agreed to do the surgery as I asked her too. And she did. And she got to experience God's presence and guidance before, during, and after the surgery too! I can't explain everything spiritual that happened but everyone knew God was with us...there's no doubt about that.

And as for that first surgery cancelation...God confirmed He was the one that did that too when the Admittance Nurse called me to reschedule my surgery. She was the same one who had called me for the first scheduled surgery and she came right out and asked me why my first surgery was canceled. When I told her my Surgeon didn't feel confident doing the surgery with my Pre-Op EKG results. And she told me she didn't understand that because she had all my records from my Heart Doctor and she had gone over everything and found nothing wrong...nothing to cancel the surgery at all. She even took my records to the Anthesologist and they went over them and could find no reason to cancel the surgery either!

I don't know what is still ahead of me....but I know who is going there with me and who will never leave or forsake me. My faith is being tested and it is growing stronger each day. I may not know what tomorrow holds...but I do know who holds my tomorrow and I trust Him with my life because He is my life.
