I have had this club for 55 years and never used it. It isn't much for defense, but better than nothing and easy to hide, out of sight, but with in arms reach by my bed.
I bought it at a rummage sale because I thought it was cool. I had it hanging on a braided leather strap in my bedroom as an art piece along with my grandmothers old leather quirt. After I left home I kept it in my vehicle for many years and finally just put it in my nightstand.
I keep a piece of galvanized pipe about 2 feet long by my bed. It has some kind of heavy attachment on the end of it. If the handgun or the automatic shotgun doesn't get them, I can use it as a final defense.
I have a 38 caliber revolver in my nightstand. And a husband on the other side. They are both in arms reach.
I have a handgun in the nightstand drawer, but a nice steel bat on the floor between my bed and the nightstand. I'm with @Shirley Martin , I would use whichever one makes more sense at the time. I think it's a great deterrent just for criminals to KNOW lots of people, regardless of gender or age, have a weapon within reach.
I will never confess to all I have in my nightstand and near my bed. I hate losing the element of surprise.
