I am the oldest now in my family...68.

Does that mean I’m the matriarch on my side?

I feel like the lost little girl.....:(

This may have to be moved to off topic chit chat...sorry @Faye Fox

This thread is about you and your loss.....

Yes but you're luckier than many, you still have your siblings, and your children and grandchildren, who look after you very well...

As my daughter is an only child, I find myself bartering with God regularly , asking him not to let me die until she's older, and can handle being an orphan more readily ... it worries me loads that she would be alone in the world. Even now in my early 60's I miss my mum after losong her when I was a teen and I have siblings.. , so I want my daughter to have me around for as long as possible !!

No not at all, Chrissy, this is a thread for all to share. Thanks for your post and addition to this topic. I learned a long time ago, life isn't about me, but us all, now older, trying to find our way into the sunset. It isn't about what we have lost, but how we survived to reach our age. I am also 68 and love to share with those less fortunate and also those more fortunate.

    What a lovely post.
You have a very sweet sensitive side you rarely share in posts.
Thanks for being my friend away from the forum and trusting me with your life stories. :)

There is something worse. My 2 youngest died. My daughter died 3 days after turing 48. My youngest son died a week short of 53.

Me either. We were blessed with only the one child.. a son. Something to do with my shooting blanks. I have always felt rather ashamed I was unable to give my son a sibling. We compensated by buying him two puppies and a turtle when he was about 10. A poor substitute for him but he grew to love the puppies. My son is now 31 and still not married. So no grand children anytime soon. The important thing is he is healthy so I pray we have him into our dotage.

Oh Dear Lord, Al.... I'm so sorry for your loss, it's not the way it should be, children shouldn't go before their parents. :( Having watched my sister lose 2 of her children, I'm sorry to say that I CAN imagine how you felt and will still be feeling... !!:(

The sibling thing could be overrated. My oldest son was 15 before I had the second two children. He said his life was perfect until they were born. :D

Heartfelt compassion for all of you who travelled life's worst road of loss. My loss was before birth, not after. Journey Towards Heaven_ Part 5- Thankful God Is With Us.jpeg

I am feeling for you Micki. Luckily I have not felt that loss. It is heart-breaking losing a family pet.. I can not begin to understand what it'd be to lose a child.
