Really haven't given a thought to dinner as yet. Will wing it tonight. It's getting too cold to go out.
At first I thought this sounded as though he could be seriously sick, but the Mayo Clinic has this to say about the condition: Some loss of taste and smell is natural with aging, especially after age 60. However, other factors can contribute to loss of taste and smell, including: Nasal and sinus problems, such as allergies, sinusitis or nasal polyps. Certain medications, including beta blockers and angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) ... https://www.mayoclinic.org › loss-of-taste-and-smell › faq-20058455 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- It may not be life threatening, but going on without enjoying food when it could be something as simple as an antibiotic, seems sad. My husband had the same attitude. He put off going to the doctor and ended up dying way before he had to. Men are so hard headed sometimes.
Mark still sickly, so food not on his mind. Now daughter sick...so soup soup soup and medicine...I a not happy
I need a change of pace for my dinner tonight. Instead of partaking of the gourmet food provided by my Assisted Living Residence I will be ordering aThai Green Chile Chicken meal and have it delivered to my apartment via GRUBHUB.
Sounds like we need to get you a nursing hat. Taking care of sick people always takes a lot of energy. It's as though you can't really ever relax because they might need something. After my husband died, I think I slept for 3 months. I hope everyone in your home is feeling better soon.
My husband is only in his 50's, and not on any medication at all..but he's been like this without the ability to taste or smell for about 5 years. I keep telling him it's likely to be a sinus problem and can be simply fixed but he simply will not go to see a Doctor insisting that there's nothing that can be done. he's a n archetypal stubborn Taurean, once he makes his mind up there's no changing him...and he hates seeing doctors anyway, he just won't go. I'm so sorry you lost your husband far too early ,..How long has he been gone Bess? I keep feeling that the same thing will happen with mine due to his stubbornness about not seeing a doctor when he is poorly...
It's a dreary day and supposed to get really cold later this evening, so I've got a pot of chili simmering. We'll have sliced avocado, diced onion, and grated cheese as toppers and probably some tortilla chips. And beer. Later we'll have strawberry shortcake with our coffee.
I had left overs. When I DO cook, I end up having to eat it for 2-3 nights and am always glad when it's finally gone. Tomorrow is a cook day.
It's another cold day; our first hard freeze coming tonight. So I have taken a page from @Gloria Mitchell's book and have a pot of beef stew with potatoes and carrots simmering. Also having cornbread muffins.
