UPDATE: Due to the Holiday schedule, our closing has been moved up. Today will be our last day! Sorry if our being closed messes up your Thanksgiving plans. Thanks to all, who have spilled GALLONS of coffee, over the years on our counters and tables. If you are ever in the Poconos, Look us up!
I didn’t know that I could re-open a thread, but apparently , I can. Your favorite coffee thread is now re-opened and ready for you to rebuild the coffee shop into what ever you decide, @Joe Riley ! (Joe will be re-opening our favorite coffee shop either today or tomorrow and we can all celebrate Thanksgiving here together and not have to worry about social distancing.)
Hi-goodbye Coffee Re-opens It's Doors To Seniors, only at new location, with new name! (101 Main Street, "Main Street Coffee Shop") Thank you for the warm welcome, Ken & Yvonne! And thank you for leaving the Key under the mat! We closed the High-Goodbye Coffee Shop one year ago, to move to the Pocono Mountains to help Uncle Al & Aunt Flo manage and run the "Check Inn Motel" & "Check Please Diner" . They have since sold the place and retired to Jamaica. So we are freed up and have made a quick move back to town. We hope to reopen the Hi-Goodbye by Thanksgiving, on November 26....one year to the day that we closed. It just worked out that way. We are turning over a New Lease! We hope to be open tomorrow, for Thanksgiving day!
You may recall, that about this time last year, we lost our lease, as the Golden Casino Group bought up a couple blocks and planned to build the Golden Casino. Well, it seems that they ended up having more "Dreams" than "Gold" and the final Foot-print contains "The Golden Mall", a scaled down version of their "Dream". Meanwhile the buildings were leveled and we not are re-located to 101 Main Street, two blocks over. You could call us "Coffee 101"! More on The golden Mall, later. Just a note: Our old Cobbler Shop and Barbershop have survived, under new ownership, and are thriving!
I notice first time you opened you served more than just coffee. . Will you serve turkeys... for Thanksgiving?
I took a quick jog around The Golden Mile Mall this morning. A turkey trot of sorts, really, and scoped out some of the stores. A few of our old neighbors, AARP and Silver Sneakers have moved into modest digs, over there. Turns out our local "Silver" Sneakers has been changed to "Golden Sneakers" (Olden Dreams), in order to obtain a lease! Talk about selling your soul. Ended up having lunch at the Flying Pig Noodle Queen.
I also ran into William Board, a prominent Ad Executive, here in town, who was plugging his two latest books at "Golden Books". The titles are "Quiet Riot" and "Better Bread, Than Dead"! Both are mysteries, along with Bill. Then there's "Sleepers Creepers Mattress Outlet", "Clyde & Dale's Saloon", "Golden Corral Auto Rental", "The King Midas Theater" and that was before lunch. I finished up at "Brew's Brother's Micro Brewery", "Bare Bones Furniture Outlet", bumped into Bend and Stretch Warner, owners of "Warner Brother's Moving". i finished up at "Dick's Market" and "Vic's Gas & Go". Whew! It was a Golden Tour, fer sure! You can't make this stuff up!
Well, the guys from "Warner Brother Moving" and the crew from Ajax Cleaning have finished up, and things are good to go. Nothing special tomorrow, just trying a new Turkey pancake recipe, along with Thanksgiving Bingo, at high noon, to liven up the place! Thanks to Yvonne and Bobbie for the nice welcoming "Floral Arrangement", delivered today by the folks over at "Real Bloomers" in The Golden Mile Mall! They really "Rolled" out the red carpet!
