@Beth Gallagher - that's what I used to do, send a PM which would then notify the person via Email Unfortunately, we don't receive Emails from the forum now, so can't be done
Patsy--if I go into my profile settings, I have the option to receive email notifications of Conversations or responses to threads that I started. I have my notifications turned off so I don't know if they work or not. Are you saying that Ken has disabled email notifications?
@Beth Gallagher - We used to get them every day, getting on for a year now that we don't receive them Not sure what the problem is
I still see the email notification option in my settings. I suppose there should be no reason for it not to work. However, if a person is able to check their email, chances are they would also be able to go to the site with at least a quick note as to let someone know they are okay. This is always an awkward conversation, but we ARE at an age when the unexpected can happen.
Good news - I got PM Emails today No need to get 'thread ones' but PMs are important to get - so really pleased, hope it continues
Been getting thread Emails too - for those that don't want them, just click them off in your settings
Finally found this thread. It didn't come up on the Search. Therefore, I posted it elsewhere. I have no reason as to why I felt the random need to tell everyone this.
I don't have mine set to go into my email either. I'm on here more regularly than I even check my email.
@Bess Barber Still don't understand the email thing, is it our real email, and who would send to our email and why. Thought that's what PM's are for.
What Bess is referring to is the notification emails, not personal emails from someone in the group. For example, if I sent you a PM, then you should get a notice in your email that you have a PM from me, and should be able to read my message right from the email, although you need to go to the forum page to respond to the PM. In your control settings, you can choose whether you wish to receive notification emails or not. Since some of the notifications might be because someone tagged you in a thread, or responded to a thread you are in, you could be getting quite a few email alerts unless you have those notifications turned off. I like the email notifications for an alert that I have a PM, but otherwise, I would rather just get the alerts here on the forum dashboard than in my email, so it is whatever each person prefers, as far as receiving alerts.
